A Beautiful Fragrance Journey
I was not prepared for the first spray. It's a very strong blast of floral led by plum blossom, rose and violet. It's VERY strong. But if you are patient, you will be treated to a beautiful floral delight. The plum blossom takes a back seat as the the rose moves to the forefront finally to be taken over by the violet. The oakmoss and bergamot remain present throughout the journey but are not overwhelming.
What makes this unique is the lemon hovering lightly in the background which adds a bright note. Patchouli also helps to add depth to the floral notes. I can see how this could be categorized as just a vintage scent, but for me, it's more than that due to the complexity of the full list of notes.
The sillage is strong at first, but fades. By the 4th hour it becomes a skin scent and by the 5th or 6th it's barely there unless it has been sprayed on clothing. I could still smell it on my jacket the next day.
For me, this scent was a winner!
A Gothic Church w/a Petting Zoo Out Front
Where to start. This was my first experience with Zoologist. Intriguing concept, so I bought a lot of samples before jumping in based off reviews, which I encourage strongly!
First spray, the scent had a very animalic scent upfront. Very much in your face! After an hour, it became a petting zoo with frankincense. Somewhat better, but the barnyard was always lurking. 3-5 hours later, it was only a skin scent, but the barn scent was still lingering.
I found on clothing alone, it was more palatable leaning more towards a sweet fruity scent with spice, but on my skin animal and gothic church. Very interesting to see what chemistry does. It looks like for many, the scent wears spicier and fruitier. My chemistry must like strong animalic scents, which I didn't see coming.
In the end, I would not purchase a full bottle. I just don't feel right smelling like a real life Nativity scene. 3.5 rating, but glad it works for many!
