Synthetic opening, gorgeous dry down
The initial blast is woody but with a tart raspberry note. The raspberry soon settles to a sugary, syrupy evocation of the fruit which to my nose reads quite synthetic in a way I don’t enjoy. The oud is super subtle to begin with but makes its appearance as the fragrance dries. The base of it is my favourite, it almost has a caramelised effect but retains some of the sugary sweetness from the opening in a smoother way. The whole blend comes into it’s own in the dry down and reminds you that this is, after all, a Guerlain work. I wish it could be this from the beginning.

Lovely but too common
Ended up with a sample of this after finally pulling the trigger on Chanel no 5. Unbeknownst to me I have smelled this many times in the wild. Recognising the heady jasmine for the umpteenth I had to ask my colleague what she was wearing only to discover I already had a sample. I love how it’s sweet but sultry, it projects and lasts. Ropion really has a way with white flowers.
Wouldn’t personally purchase because it’s so popular it’s as pointless as buying a BR540 scent. I smell it more than I would ever wear it myself! So for now I will enjoy the whiffs I get from other women wearing it.

Stunning
I got to meet the owner of the brand when it launched in Harrods and he personally told me this smells good on me so pardon my biased review.

This is a fragrance that wears very differently according to the weather. In the summer it is intensely fruity with the plum. The earthy rich patchouli plays beautifully with the rose in the dry down. In the cooler weather, the rose and plum dance together in powdery bliss. Both experiences leave me speechless. The tobacco note is not too prominent, I’m hoping this develops as the fragrance continues to mature. It adds a woody facet to it and I do get some spice in the top.

The owner mentioned to me way more notes than is listed (I remember him saying cherry and oak moss) so I wouldn’t be surprised if it had a bit of pepper as well.
