Cool Water, the way it used to smell
Distant Wave by the Polish company La Rive reminds me of the old Cool Water in the original formulation by Pierre Bourdon, before it was made into a "fresh, maritime and green" but very synthetic-smelling perfume for whatever reason.
DW is much grassier, fresher, more natural and also a touch more maritime than CW, but also much more alcoholic on the nose and less pronounced overall. Well, the price difference has to come from somewhere, and it's certainly not just the brand name that you pay for with CW. Olfactorily, CW is much more intense and lasts longer, which should come as no surprise, as it is the EdT DW competing against the EdP CW.
But for the price of around €6.50/100 ml EdT, DW is an absolute bargain, reminiscent of the old CW in its scent and therefore a real recommendation for lovers of old-fashioned fragrances - the original, Creed Green Irish Tweed, dates back to 1985, was also created by Pierre Bourdon and is now considered a classic among men's fragrances.
