A Poem About my Formulation Disaster

I made the most amazing
Perfume the other day
With lavender, frankincense,
Jasmine and nerolae.

I added rosemary and ginger,
Galbanum and hibawood,
(At this stage you know
It didn't smell too good).

What to do to rescue?
(Ignoring less is more)
A few drips of carnation
Ttook over the whole floor.

Gardenia, osmanthus,
Sandalwood and vetivert
Rounded it out quite nicely
- To the smell of an old shirt.

Faint heart won not fair lady
And so I steeled my nerve,
Dolloped in some chamomile
To give a bit of verve.

Habanoloid, patchouli,
Rose and benzoin too,
Helichrysum, sweet orange,
Lemon, vanilla - (phew!).

After all of this
It really smelt quite bland
but a few drops more galbanum
Was luckily to hand.

Now what is so amazing
Is despite all in the mix
It barly smells of anything
Except some dry old sticks.

My own poem for my very own hand made perfume.
