Has everything, but can do nothing!
It seems as if the perfumers at Armaf set themselves the goal of incorporating all available fragrances when creating Private Key To My Soul. At least they have achieved this very successfully.
This fragrance is spicy (with plenty of cardamom in the top note), woody-clean (vetiver, cedarwood) and fruity-floral-sweet (see the rest of the fragrance pyramid) at the same time.
The result? Maximum olfactory overload. The nose and brain are constantly bombarded with fragrance impressions at the same time. This makes it almost impossible to engage with the fragrance. This fragrance is not harmonious enough for me. It might have been something without the spicy top note. H/S are great thanks to the high concentration and high quality of the ingredients. Holzig, clean, ohne Ecken und Kanten. Nicht verführerisch, nicht lecker, nicht zum anbeißen, aber trotzdem ein absoluter Wohlfühlduft. Mehr ein Anzug- oder Büroduft als ein Urlaubs- oder Dateduft, aber man fühlt sich trotzdem stets sauber und gut gepflegt, sobald man Terre d'Hermes aufsprüht. Der Duft verkörpert für mich die Marke Hermes selbst: Understatement und Luxus.
Warum die schlechte Bewertung? Für mich ist der Duft nichts aussergewöhnliches. Zu viel Understatement und zu wenig Persönlichkeit. Aber vielleicht ist das genau der Punkt, den viele an ihm lieben.
