Are you f*** kidding me?
Hi all you perfume enthusiasts! I would also like to give my brief and concise opinion on Trono.

First of all: I think this is the best "cloned" fragrance that I have personally come across so far.

When I tested it yesterday against my original bottling, I really had to start laughing. Funnily enough, I also tested it blind with my wife. She even thought the original was the dupe.

But well. Now let's be objective. So for the description: if you describe one, you describe the other. BUT: there are minimal differences (subtle nuances) that should still be shown:

- the fruity apple top note is somewhat more dominant in Trono than in its predecessor. It is minimally, but really only minimally, synthetic. This is not at all the case with Layton.
- the Trono seems to me a very small corner more "floral"
- the Trono lacks the "dark" depth. I suspect it is the tobacco that is completely missing here.
- Longevity and sillage: in my opinion, the point goes to Trono. It is simply more persistent.

Conclusion: can you do without the dark notes of Layton and don't want to spend €200? Then go for the good piece. It's worth it :)

Have a fragrant day!

The better Layton
...and I'm completely serious. What MAD has brought out in recent years is pure madness. After my song of praise for Queen Forza from Alexandria, now, after thorough long-term testing, comes the King - Trono .

The opening welcomes us with a typical PdM apple - wrapped in a very subtle floral freshness. This is joined by tangerine, a natural vanilla scent and light woody notes. What quickly becomes clear until the drydown: the fragrance is not linear, but unfolds slowly. It really deepens from minute to minute. It is important to mention that there is hardly a trace of synthetics here.

The often-mentioned marginal differences to Layton in the drydown are my real personal highlight: the strongly present cake/vanilla note that is familiar from Layton is present in Trono, but not quite as sweet. In the drydown of Trono, the apple is clearly more present and the fragrance is somewhat more floral overall. However, these differences are really marginal. Still big enough for me to confidently ignore my magical 20° weather limit for this fragrance DNA.

The sillage is and remains strong throughout. Significantly stronger than the original, which is why over-spraying can quickly become critical here - but the wallet is happy, because the durability is incredibly good. 9-10 hours are usually possible for me - on bad days it is "only" 8 hours. Not surprising, as this is an extrait de parfum. This fragrance lasts almost a week, especially on clothing.

The bottle takes a little getting used to, but in my opinion it's not as hideous as some people make it out to be. At least not quite as bad as the "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين". However, for a fragrance in the low to medium price range, I don't expect a feast for the eyes, as we know it from the niche market.

The price is always an issue with MAD. In Turkey I paid €30, for the second bottle (yes, the stuff is addictive) I put €55 on the table in a local MAD store. Either way, it's a 10/10 considering what you get here for the price.

To my nose, the Trono is 98.9% of the Layton. The only difference is the drydown described above, which is a plus point for me. Both the fragrance and the H/S are in no way inferior to the niche model. The mere fact that you pay (in the best case "only") three times as much for the Layton makes the Trono the king for me.

The quiet cousin
TL;DR Very good, lighter Layton alternative - great price

I recently came across Trono by MAD Parfumeur - a fragrance that immediately raises high expectations with its name. "Throne" sounds like presence, like authority. And Trono fulfills this - but in a very unagitated, quiet way.

The opening is bright and inviting: crisp apple, bergamot, lavender. I immediately thought of Layton - that elegant apple freshness that is neither playful nor too sweet. But where Layton is often a little more opulent, Trono remains more light-footed. Almost as if he were wearing the same suit, but without the pocket square and cufflinks.

Floral softness blends into the heart: Violet, rose geranium, a little jasmine. This never comes across as floral in the classic sense, but gives the fragrance a calm depth, almost like soft light on polished wood. The floral notes carry, they do not dominate.

The base is warm, spicy and structured: sandalwood, guaiac, pepper, a gentle hint of vanilla. Here, too, the composition is reminiscent of Layton - but with less sweetness, less volume. Cardamom and musk bring a gentle warmth.

Sillage & longevity:
Trono has a respectable projection - present, but not demanding. It easily lasts a working day, but always stays on the side of elegance. Not beast mode, but not a soft pedal either. Rather: a cultivated gentleman who knows when to speak - and when to make an impact simply through presence.

Mood & impression:
Trono is like meeting Layton on the quiet - same environment, different intention; both share apple, spice, vanilla and wood. The fragrance is perfect for fall and spring, but also for elegant interiors - business meetings, evenings with attitude, situations in which you don't have to please, but are allowed to.

For whom?
For anyone who appreciates Layton but is looking for something more discreet. For people who move between classic and modern without ever tipping over into extremes. Unisex wearable - with a slight tilt towards masculine-elegant.

Conclusion:
Trono is not Layton's little brother, but rather his quieter cousin. Less sweet, less bold, a little brighter, but with similar DNA. If you love the basic idea, you'll find it here. And perhaps the best thing about Trono: it looks like a niche fragrance with a tailor-made suit - but its price remains at jeans level. For what it offers, it is almost outrageously accessible.

Green apples with moss and forest honey/vanilla
Nice apple scent, slightly herbal, sweetened with a load of forest honey. That's what it smells like
I don't recognize a great fragrance progression, which is not necessarily a bad thing per se. Over time, however, the vanilla becomes more pronounced. If it were a little more fruity and powdery and a little less creamy, I would find it even better. Despite the herbs, I find it almost too sweet for midsummer. Hardly synthetic, though. Lasts well, sillage is okay.
If you fancy apple+sweet, you can go for it. On offer for just under 50 euros, price-performance technically good. For 70 also still appropriate. It didn't totally knock my socks off. However, I tested it with high expectations.

To sum up: You can do it.

Fragrance on steroids
I haven't been registered on the site for long, but after watching various video reviews I knew that I really wanted to try the Herod or Layton. I was all the more grateful that it was very quick and easy to get a bottle at the Souk.
I liked the interplay of the individual components very much, but somehow I had imagined something different in terms of the durability and projection, which just evaporated too quickly for me personally. I stumbled across the Trono and its good reputation rather by chance. The price is definitely attractive, although it has to be said that the low prices still cost 50% more than a direct order in Turkey, but then it will certainly be cost-intensive due to customs etc.
But now we come to the Trono itself. The bottle is simple, I think the spray head and cap are bad. The cap wobbles, doesn't fit properly and, in my opinion, the spray head works unevenly as far as the sprays are concerned.
Of course, looks don't play the primary role, so let's move on to the fragrance itself. Layton with more power, that says / writes it all. :D
Even after several tests with my left and right arm, on my clothes and after sniffing it for 24 hours, I can't find any difference, except that the durability and intensity is simply stronger.
It starts off very fruity with a clear apple note, then slowly fades into floral notes before the woody accords kick in. Vanilla can be perceived very easily, but what I think is best is that this fruity note does not fade, but remains.
Price / performance are simply top and I give a clear recommendation to buy.
