Are you f*** kidding me?
Hello, you perfume enthusiasts!
I also want to briefly share my thoughts on Trono.

So, let me say right off the bat: for my taste, this is the best "cloned" scent that has come my way so far.

When I tested it against my original sample yesterday, I really had to start laughing. Interestingly, I also did a blind test with my wife. She even thought the original was the dupe.

But alright. Now let's be objective. So, for the description: if you describe one, you describe the other. BUT: there are minimal deviations (fine, fine nuances) that should still be noted:

- the fruity apple top note is a bit more dominant in Trono than in its counterpart. It is minimal, but really just minimal, synthetic. This is not the case with Layton.
- Trono strikes me as a tiny bit more "floral".
- Trono lacks the "dark" depth. I suspect it's the tobacco that is completely missing here.
- Longevity and sillage: for my taste, the point goes to Trono. It's simply more enduring.

Conclusion: can you do without the dark notes of Layton and don't want to spend 200€? Then go for this gem. It's worth it :)

Have a fragrant day!

A Throne for Trono

My husband has recently fallen head over heels. Not for me (as is well known, that fades after years :D) no, rather he has given his heart to Layton, even though he is not at all into perfume. But Layton had him right from the start. However, when he learned the price, his enthusiasm noticeably diminished. "Whaaat, for a scent that will just fade away again, that much money?" came the words. You know, explaining to every perfume enthusiast that fragrances are also hobbies and that you naturally pay for the experience is futile here. This is an endless discussion that we probably know all too well.

So, what does my husband do? He sets out to find a cheaper alternative. He comes across a few, but one stands out in particular. The "Trone | La Bonté." We bought it quite unceremoniously in a shopping mall in Bosnia, where the large bottle cost about 86 BAM. This translates to around 43€. So quite okay for 100ml. The packaging and the bottle appear solid, not cheap at all. It feels heavy and valuable when you hold it in your hand. The spray ratio is also just right, nothing spills here and everything goes where it should.

As for the scent, I can say that it comes very close to Layton, although they differ in their reveal. Especially towards the end. Here, Trono is noticeably smoother, calmer, although a bit more synthetic, which doesn’t seem to bother at all.

A very strong fruity scent that combines aspects of apple and mandarin very well. There’s a hint of hay that lazily drifts through the fields. Lavender is perfectly balanced here, along with notes of jasmine and violet. Not too shrill, no! They fit in just right. The sweetness then becomes noticeably thicker, earthy patchouli joins in, making it a bit more serious. Creamy clouds drifting over the horizon bring in a bit of vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper. A hint of synthesis is not exactly subtle here, but it doesn’t seem to bother my husband at all.

A zesty fruity scent, combined with cream & sweetness. A well-chosen oriental for people who like such combinations and don’t want to dig too deep into their pockets. Absolutely okay. Longevity and sillage are convincing, and you really can’t complain about that. It won’t become my absolute favorite scent on my husband, as I don’t feel much sympathy for Layton, but to be honest, it is well made. Trono, however, is fairly equal to it. On the contrary, it actually has almost as much, if not just as much, endurance and clings to the wearer for a long time.

A throne for Trono, as my husband says.
As long as you’re happy with what you wear.
No matter which house it comes from (if I didn’t know it was from MAD, I would have classified it olfactorily on a different, higher level).

Fat Announcement III
Today I have one of the biggest players in "Fat Announcement" in front of me. The house MAD is dangerous with its scents and can be quite threatening to its inspirations.

The inspiration for Tronos is Layton by PDM. A fragrance that, in my opinion, is very difficult to clone. Experiences with Detour Noir and others have been very unsuccessful and useless, as the typical PDM DNA was never present.

However, Trono is a PERFECT dupe of Layton. Many brands that try to imitate Layton forget that PDM fragrances have a beautiful cake DNA. MAD has not forgotten this. Trono manages to bring it out cleanly. This apple pie... simply so gourmand and flawless. No trace of synthetics, not even remotely. The vanilla twist at the end... perfectly balanced (other brands have often overdone it here, so that their Layton clones ended up being nothing but poor vanilla scents).

I don't need to say anything about longevity. I don't know the current performance of Layton, but I suspect that Trono can keep up here. At least 8 hours are possible. I even perceived it on my wrist for 14 hours (despite washing my hands 6 times). For me, honestly, a shocking experience, as this is just a clone of Layton.

The sillage is very noticeable. My surroundings perceive this scent well, especially in the car there wasn't a bit of air that didn't come from Trono. Even on very cold days, I get comments like, "The scent is a 10."

Bottle: Yes... it is ugly. But its interior is like honey. Layton is definitely ahead here, yet you must give MAD a chance. The sprayer is quite okay; you shouldn't expect too much here.

Fat Announcement:
No clone can match this Layton dupe. Finally, it happened, one that manages to dupe Layton without shortcomings in performance or DNA. For me, honestly, the more lovable version compared to Layton, as PdM has ruined the performance of their fragrances with their frequent reformulations. If MAD can manage to clone Herod and Oajan at this level, then I prefer to go with MAD (when it comes to PDM clones).

The Better Layton
… and I mean it. What MAD has released in recent years is pure madness. After my praise for Queen Forza from Alexandria, now follows, after thorough long-term testing, the King - Trono.

The opening greets with a PdM-typical apple - enveloped in very subtle floral freshness. A mandarin, a natural vanilla scent, and light woody notes join in. What quickly becomes clear by the drydown: the fragrance is not linear, but unfolds slowly. It truly deepens from minute to minute. It is important to mention that there is hardly a trace of synthetics here.

The often-mentioned marginal differences to Layton in the drydown are my actual, personal highlight: The strongly present cake/vanilla note known from Layton is present in Trono, but not quite as sweet. In the drydown of Trono, the apple is significantly more present and overall the fragrance is a bit more floral. However, these differences are really marginal in nature. Still, they are big enough for me to confidently ignore my magical 20 ° weather limit for this fragrance DNA.

The sillage is and remains strong throughout. Significantly stronger than the original, which means that overspraying can quickly become critical - however, this is good for the wallet, as the longevity is incredibly good. 9-10 hours are usually what I get - on bad days it's "only" 8 hours. Not surprising, after all, we have an Extrait de Parfum here. Especially on clothing, this fragrance lasts almost a week.

The bottle is… a bit of an acquired taste but in my opinion not as dreadful as some say. At least not quite as bad as the "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين". However, I don’t expect a feast for the eyes from a fragrance in the low to mid-price range, as one might find in niche fragrances.

The price is always a bit of a thing with MAD. In Turkey, I paid €30, for the second bottle (yes, this stuff is addictive) I laid down €55 at a local MAD store. Either way, it’s a 10/10 considering what you get for the price.

To my nose, Trono is 98.9% like Layton. The only difference is the drydown described above, which I consider a plus point. Both the scent and H/S are in no way inferior to the original from the niche. The mere fact that you pay (at best "only") three times as much for Layton makes Trono the king for me.

Currently the best Layton dupe… chapéau!
The hype surrounding the Turkish fragrance house has reached me as well and piqued my curiosity, so I have been intensively exploring MAD Parfumeur in recent days and spontaneously decided to go for a test today.
My family wasn't too thrilled, but at least there was ice cream on the way back.
Once the compromise was found and I could dedicate myself to my favorite pastime, I sniffed my way through the shelves and discovered wonderful compositions that are very precisely inspired by the great originals.
There will be more reviews or statements on some other MAD fragrances to follow.

Of course, my main focus was on the highly hyped "Trono | MAD Parfumeur."
And I can only agree with my enthusiastic predecessors.
Here you get a 99% Layton.

No comparison with "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين."
I sprayed both on my wrists and the only thing they have in common is the top note.
However, "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين" becomes quite piercing after a short time and loses itself in a harsh, hard-to-define synthetic scent.
Compared to "Trono | MAD Parfumeur," "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين" is a fragrance water from the drugstore. Not bad at all, but qualitatively far behind Trono and Layton.

Since Trono is also an Extrait de Parfum, the longevity is, as expected, fantastic. The sillage is typically not beast mode but clearly noticeable, without triggering suffocation. Just pleasant, as a good fragrance should be.

My predecessors have already described further details about Trono very nicely, and I can only agree with them.
There is just one thing to add:
The bottle is ugly and there are better spray heads, but I can live very well with these minor criticisms.

Since Trono is currently not so easy to obtain, or only through detours, I made a bulk purchase to perhaps give a few others the opportunity to partake in this wonderful Layton dupe.
They will, of course, be sold unopened in their original packaging.
My souk will be updated according to availability.

Is the hype real? Yes, it's a good Layton dupe.
But it's not that much better than Détour Noir, probably just has more power.

I don't know Layton, but this scent is very well-rounded - spice, flowers, and fruits harmonize beautifully together. Too heavy for warm weather.

Much finer and more elegant than the "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين"
Almost perfectly balanced.
Layton now has to step aside.

1:1 Layton!!! Even the depth is there. H/S was immense. I noticed it for 16 hours on skin and 2-3 days on my jacket (despite heavy rain).

Considering the scent, H/S is the best clone I've had the chance to test. The only reason not to like it is if you don't like Layton either.

MAD Trono vs. Détour Noir vs. Natural Dusk. First insight: Layton seems easy to copy. All 3 do it very well, details below.
