Today I tried Mousse Illuminee, and I was impressed. I realize it has been compared to the original formulation of Polo Green. Unfortunately, I don’t feel it is that similar. However, that’s not terrible thing. MI hits you with bright camphor-like opening that wakes up your senses. After about 30 minutes the cypress and artemisia takes over. Those two notes remain present through the life of the fragrance. Once MI begins the base dry down you are supported by beautiful moss and musk.

Fans of fougere fragrances will enjoy the artistry that went into crafting this sublime perfume. Kudos to Rogue Perfumery; this is an outstanding fragrance.

It’s Essential is a pleasant everyday office-type scent that won’t offend anyone. It opens with a light pear/citrus combo that holds for about 20 minutes on me. It then transitions into a more aromatic fragrance with some rose scent in the background. It maintains that scent structure through the remainder of its life—about four to six hours. A considerable number of other notes are listed, but I’ve failed to pick them up when I wear It’s Essential.

In conclusion, if you are looking for an office safe scent or something to wear during warm spring or summer days you won’t regret picking this one up. I found it to be relatively inexpensive. It hovers around the $20 to $25 price range in America.

Legesi is a classic barbershop fougere that smells nearly identical to Chanel’s Platinum Egoiste. The first time I sprayed it I was hit with a good dose of lavender and petitgrain. The rosemary was only slightly perceptible. After about 30-45 minutes it transitions to a more rose, sage and oakmoss based fragrance. The fragrance lasted a solid 8 hours with about 2 hours of arms length projection.

In a nutshell, this is a great high quality barbershop for a ridiculously low price.

If you can get past the cheap flip cap and tacky presentation you are left with a winner.

Oh boy, this bad boy is a straight up incense bomb. It’s has a powerful herbal opening due to the oregano. The oregano adds a uniqueness rarely seen in perfumery. Within about an hour the oregano subsides and you are left with a beautiful oriental incense that captivates your senses for about 10-12 hours.

If you love incense this one is for you.

BM is a high quality fougere reminiscent of the bombastic 1980’s. It is very similar to Drakkar Noir in terms of scent. BM has smells of higher quality and has greater longevity.

The scent itself starts with a lavender/citrus combination that is eventually bolstered by oak moss , fir balsam and carnation. After a couple of hours the base brings back memories of high quality shaving soap.

Overall, it is a masculine scent that is both classic and modern. Wear it with pride knowing it is a fragrance for gentlemen.
