David Beckham Eau De Parfum Collection

In recent days, I could seriously try all the fragrances from the David Beckham Long-Lasting collection that I bought. They are all unique; none look like the other. A bit like the brothers and sisters of a family, each with its own character, colours, strengths and weaknesses. They are all here in front of me on the desk. I observe them while the dim light of the lamp illuminates the bottles, giving me wonderful colours, like a ray of light that passes through a prism and breaks down into a thousand shades. I sprayed them on my arms and the back of my hands to capture emotions and study their evolution in unison. In my small way, I think these masterpieces are little jewels which have gone unnoticed and underestimated, either because people are full of preconceptions or because I don’t even know why. In fact, respectable noses behind these creations have dedicated their time and passion to giving life to essences that should lighten and cheer up our days. So, with this article, I would like to shed some light on my impressions and feelings about it.
There is something about something. I must admit that there is value or truth in what master perfumers have done, even if most people don’t fully approve of it. I don’t agree with all the negative feedback, and there’s probably something to it.
For those in a hurry, I write a few lines with a summary description of each perfume to give you an idea. I put the link to the complete review for those wishing to learn more.

Aromatic Greens

This woody green essence announces with an imprinted bitterness, like a walk through nature. A smidgen figgy, with pencil shavings subtleties underneath. But what makes appealing this green kickoff more is a touch of aromatic absinthe. Slowly, the freshness turns into a polished heart of powdery elements. Hidden in the core, I catch a crisp fruitiness mixed with greenness. Finally, a loamy blend of woods and leaves creeps in to set the finale. The cologne remains in the green and woody territory without gourmand traces.

Infinite Aqua

Coty classifies this as a floral aquatic, and I agree, it’s like holidays by the coast. It unfolds with a burst of tart citrus as if you were taking a wedge of lemon zest and then twisting it close to the rim of the glass. The presence of a watery vein immediately transpires in the form of a light breeze that rises from the clear water. Strangely, I smell like Nivea cream for a while, which pleasantly surprises me. In the heart, the floral aspect dominates the aquatic one, which I find very similar to the delicacy of dewdrops on water flowers. There is a splash of masculine floral radiance. Finally, the smell lands on a woody and musky base. Below remain the mineral notes of the fig, which, together with the watery ones of the flowers, give rise to a metallic accord, hence the metallic blossoms.

Refined Woods

This is an oriental woody fragrance, a creation by Symrise perfumer Alexandra Carlin, the nose behind “Kyoto | Diptyque”, “Leather Essence | Ferrari”, and “BlackSoul (Eau de Toilette) | Ted Lapidus”, to mention some of my collection’s items. It features a heavy aromatic slant that ideally carries you to distant lands, staying at home while travelling the world. It slowly leads to an earthy-floral heart. The dustiness of the orris root is tamed and perceptible without the nuance of talcum powder, lipstick, or any sort of makeup. In the ultimate phase, the spicy and woody warmth of roasted beans, with both wood and roots, underlines the character of the essence.

Amber Breeze

This is, of course, an ambery aromatic essence, a creatiion of Givaudan perfumer Shyamala Maisondieu. It caresses me with peppery aromas and a hint of boozy, fresh, and warm accords with infinite perspectives. As the name implies, it is ambery with a honey-like, semi-sweet undertone, that kind of sweetness. Notes of lavender and rose intertwining with clary sage from its heart form a soft and masculine herbaceous bouquet. To complete the experience of this smooth and sensual sunset, the spicy and woody base offers earthy notes of modern patchouli, smooth vetiver, and semi-sweet toasted tonka bean.

I’m forming an opinion on the bottles I’ve had since June 2023. I hope you enjoy my experience travelling through these snippets.
