A little green, a little vanilla, a LOT fennel
This is an indie perfume for licorice/fennel lovers and fennel lovers only. It comes on strong from the time that I put the sample to my skin; it's pretty accurate to the original: that gentle sort of licorice greenness mixed with a watery, aquatic base. Underneath it, there's a very pleasant vanilla that doesn't go plastic. The vanilla is not particularly foody, not particularly sharp; it's very much a supporting player here, most evident in the dry-down. The dry down is almost entirely soft vanilla.

The wormwood is also a nice supporting player here; it never quite takes the lead, but it gives this a pleasant greenness. It gives this a sort of 1920's sort of feel in a way; this feels like a sweeter take on an absinthe dessert cocktail, bright green and inviting with just a hint of the salt that might suggest something darker to the green fairy's gaze.

STRONG Lavender Violet
I LOVE Summer (Mucha), and I am sad to say that I only like Winter (Mucha) though that is no shade to it. Unlike it's summer cousin, this one does not have any sort of spice. What it does have is a drag-race.

This is knock-your-socks-off violets and lavender racing one another; first one pulls ahead, then the other. The oakmoss and amber are in the backseats of these hypothetical racing cars, gripping their hands on the seats, as Lavender and violet take turns, each going faster and faster. The joyride is INTENSE but does stop with the violet somewhat winning the race. The cooldown, post-race is a nice, powdery violet with a good herbal lavender in the background keeping it from going a bit too old lady violet and bringing it more to fabric softener at worst. Very nice overall!

More Vanilla than Licorice
(Note: This is part of Possets' Yule Retour; it is only available in winter from around November to January.)

I was expecting after trying some of Posset's other licorice scents that this would be a LOUD scent. However, it is really one of the most subtle of the Silver series. This is mostly Possets' famous silver base, which is a slightly metallic, full-but-not-foody vanilla. There's a hint of licorice here, but not much more than that. The anise dissipates quickly in the dry-down, leaving this even more vanilla.

The Vanilla scent lasts for several hours on the wrist, but the sillage is weak and can't be smelled beyond your arm. Recommended for those who want a very vanilla-heavy licorice scent, but licorice-lovers should seek elsewhere.
