3 Reasons Why I'm Letting Go of Gourmands
They say your nose can change in an instant, and it looks like I'm no exception to this. Even though I've been a self-proclaimed "gourmand girl" for as long as I can remember, I've come to a point now that I unfortunately can't wear gourmand fragrances anymore - and I'm sharing my reasons why.
Gourmands are just...
1) Too edible
If I had a coin for every time someone wanted to take a bite out of my arm, thinking it was a real cupcake instead of just fragrance... then I would have no money, since that has never happened to me. But the risk will never fully be zero π¬ so why put myself in danger by smelling delicious?
2) Immature
Listen, life is too short to squeeze out any time for fun. Being an adult means being serious. So if a fragrance is labeled as youthful or playful, as gourmands often are, I want nothing to do with it. Not me, no thank you. π ββοΈ
3) Everywhere
It seems like a new gourmand scent pops out every 5 minutes, and it's becoming way too easy to find them. I'll just be minding my own business at a Sephora store, and a tester bottle of something gourmand will fall into my hand. I can't escape them. π
So it's with great sadness that I must admit... I actually still really love gourmands.
Happy April Fools' Day! π
So glad you enjoy the posts, that means a lot to me to hear this from you! π₯°
I'll make sure to follow you as well, nice to make a new fragrance friend! π
I heard that Lychee is now on sale, but the peach scent you like was also popular in Japan. It's a creamy, soft, sherbet-like peach puree scent. My favorite is melon, but they also have strawberry, apple, and mandarin, so I'm sure you'll like it. It doesn't last long, but it's highly reproducible.
Also, Jill Stuart released a rare cheesecake scent with berry sauce. I'll try it next time I see it. (The middle is quite floral, though.) It's $21 for 20ml.
Do you like milk tea scents? Jill's milk tea scent released in winter was quite accurate. This one is $10 for 10ml.
Also, a chocolate specialty store called THEOBROMA recently released a perfume.
I wish I could go to Japan as soon as you open the door...
You are correct, I am very interested in Fernanda. I'm impressed by your excellent memory!
I have not yet tried Fernanda's "Lychee", but it sounds lovely - as do the others you mentioned. I hope to one day travel to Japan, to test all of these fragrances!
Have you tried Fernanda's "Ichigo Chocolat"?
I agree with you that Fernanda's "Momo" is such a delicious peach scent - "peach puree" is a great description for it. π
If you end up testing Jill Stuart's "Rare Cheese", I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on it! It sounds very appealing (and I enjoy florals, too).
I do like milk tea scents, and I agree with you that Jill Stuart's milk tea is so realistic!
Thank you again for commenting, I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and I appreciate all of your recommendations!
I will make sure to follow you as well - I love to learn about Japanese fragrances, so I do not want to miss about any that you might write about! π€
Nice post!!
I wish I liked gourmands more. I always like the idea, but as I've definitely said more than once, most are just too strong for me. I can enjoy one every once in a while. I'm all about youthful fragrances otherwise tho haha
It's okay, I know they're not for everyone. But fruity and citrus fragrances can fall under gourmand too if they smell edible, so you have great taste there too!
And agreed, youthful fragrances are great for all ages!
Another April Foolsβ I fell for was Francesca Bianchi announcing a collab with an international company.
Nearly had a heart attack lol!
