Something familiar...
Just got a sample vial of this in from Microperfumes (love!) and the first time I swabbed this on I didn't catch it, possibly because I also got vials of Naxos and Le Beau, which I was absolutely intoxicated by.
They possibly overpowered SMW in it's fresh and fleeting manner, but I can feel the similarities to CK One now. This might be one of my first "Oh my Gosh I can smell the notes!" moments. I put it on this morning and thought it had some sort of similarity to CK One and I went to compare the notes, and what I think I'm smelling is the bergamot/tea combination, and then of course the musky base.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that of course. I love CK One, and so far I am enjoying SMW. I don't think I will ever make a full size purchase from Creed, but this is definitely going in a travel size sprayer or maybe split category. Very enjoyable, very fresh, good for the hot summers I experience here in the midwestern United States. Will definitely be wearing again.
Edit: Of course, as SMW dries down (maybe too much…) it becomes something much warmer and more complex than CK One. Both have similar DNA but serve different purposes. Love both!!
SO GREEN.
One has to imagine yourself face down in a pile of grass clippings...
It's not bad, but it is so. green. I smell like a garden, earthy and sweet. Especially the top notes, it's very bergamot-y and sweet, but it very quickly becomes this vegetal, herbaceous thing that doesn't know how to keep itself quiet.
Sweet, earthy goodness
I got a decant of this via Scentbird because it falls into the "fougere warm" family, and my girlfriend loves Eros on me.
It starts with a blast of sweet Italian lemon which lingers for awhile, and dries down to this smooth, woody, earthy experience created by the patchouli and tonka bean.
When I wear this, I can't stop sniffing myself. It's a perfectly masc scent for me, which I can't get enough of. I feel confident! If I ever use the whole decant, this is going on the "want a full bottle" list.
Fruit salad!
(Yummy yummy)
Loved this!! I got a decant from Scentbird and I used the entire thing. I was actually quite surprised to find that I had used it all up, considering I have gotten a few more since then and none of them are even close (except Eros maybe...?)
It's great for summer and spring days! I wore it as a lifeguard even though it was probably sweated off my skin by 2 pm. I just loved getting whiffs of it before work and when I was out with friends.
It's really safe, which is not a bad thing. Something can be basic and mass appealing and also be good! They are not mutually exclusive things, and I think F*ck Mondays is a great example.
All sweet, no smoke?
Full disclosure, all I have is a Lucky scent sample, but this reads as only cloyingly sweet for me. I was really excited for a sweet incense-y fragrance with more frankincense and less "oh my God I'm getting a headache now".
I want to like it though. I want the incense to come through, I want to smell the sweet smoke of a church and sense a sweet, distant grapefruit. I want it to 'click' for me like scents can for people.
I will keep sampling and sniffing and hope that I can appreciate it someday.
