I have a Tobacco, I have a Vanilla. Uh Tobacco Vanille.
Yes, the legendary Tobacco Vanille. Released in 2007 and already a legend. There are many reasons for that. Tom Ford's Private Blends are now among the top in niche fragrances. The most popular bestsellers with the largest fanbase are the classics Tuscan Leather, Noir de Noir, Oud Wood, and yes, Tobacco Vanille.
The latter has probably been the most discussed of them in recent years. And not just that, perhaps even in the entire perfume world. Opinions are divided on it. It is very loved but also very hated. But does it deserve all the attention it gets? Without a doubt, if it weren't a fragrance worth talking about, it wouldn't have such success and fame.
Here alone on Parfumo, there have already been over 50 comments about it, 637 ratings, and over 400 users own it (and that at this price). The other classics from T. Ford can't compete with that.
So, what kind of fragrance is this?
It starts with a brilliant top note. Simply fantastic! Wow effect. One person once said, no matter how you feel about it, you will compare it in a perfumery with the next fragrances you test. (Although you can only find it in very large perfumeries, which makes it even more valuable). The scent is categorized as unisex, but the beginning is definitely more masculine. It is also categorized here as sweet-spicy, but you could also categorize it as oriental-spicy or even as a gourmand (with vanilla at the center). I don't want to write too long about the scent development; many have done that better here than I can. But just as I wrote in the headline, exactly what you expect, that is the scent. A very high-quality (church? plum?) pipe tobacco and vanilla scent. In the heart note, it becomes very spicy with a sweet tobacco scent. The balance is very good.
In the base, the tobacco and spices recede, leaving a wonderful vanilla smell reminiscent of vanilla candles. In summary, the scent consists of pipe tobacco, cherry-like fruit, spices, and vanilla. At the beginning, tobacco plays the main role, at the end, vanilla. So again the name.
The sillage is strong. One should definitely pay attention to the dosage. Especially for someone who is new to niche fragrances, I wouldn't recommend starting with TV and a high dosage. It could quickly lead to disappointment. (Speaking from experience :-)) Longevity is also great. Half a day is easily achievable. It shines best in the cold season. Tobacco and vanilla scent lovers will like it. People who prefer more complex fragrances probably won't. For me, it is not only an interesting scent but also one of the best. Definitely a must-have for me, and I am certainly not the only one who thinks so. Due to the vanilla and spices, it is very suitable for everyday use. The tobacco also makes it possible to wear this scent on a special evening. Of course, one can argue about the price. Justified? Yes, it is expensive, but I think it is worth it. One of the most striking modern fragrances of recent years. Tobacco Vanille!

A Masterpiece
Black Aoud, yeah! Great perfume by Mr. Montale. Among his many scents, this is the classic, which says it all. Inspired by some comments, I had long hesitated to approach it (because of its intensity). But you can also use it in a subtle dose, and then it is for me a feel-good scent. Yes, it starts off quite medicinally intense, probably due to the Oud note. No matter, you have to get through it (10-15 min.). But then: I smell Sparta roses, a bit of mandarin, but excellently harmonized with each other. What comes next, I can't describe as well as my predecessors, it’s also listed above in the notes (patchouli, musk, oud). What matters to me is the overall impression, and that is wonderful. Of course, you have to pay attention to the dosage. Great scent, great sillage, great longevity, what more could you want? After a test, I absolutely had to have the bottle, and luckily I have it now! Black Aoud is one of my favorites.

nice companion
Rive Gauche, who would have thought? That you would be the first fragrance I write a comment about. You, who actually smelled very subtle on me and among all the fragrances I have, belong to the least used ones. Since I am a southern type, I naturally prefer sillage monsters, so I should actually be writing my first comment about an oriental fragrance like Jubilation XXV Man or Opium pour homme, as they are also among my favorites. But then came the fateful day when I had a very important appointment and needed a suitable fragrance. You came to my mind immediately with L'homme by Versace, maybe because you had a subtle sillage? In the end, you just edged ahead and were applied. I must admit, it was the right decision and you were a very dear and nice companion, fit perfectly, and taught me that I can count on you when you are needed. I will not forget that, and that is why you deserve to be honored here. Now we are good friends.
