Mumbai in Europe?
Surprisingly, a Parfumo package reached me. I was completely thrilled, as I usually don’t win anything. So I immediately got to testing.
Mumbai opens fresh with a zesty bergamot, instantly transporting you to a sunny vacation spot of your choice. It’s hot, at least 30°C.
Unfortunately, I have been searching in vain for the matcha from the top note to this day.
As soon as the fragrance settles a bit, a certain sweetness immediately comes through, and the citrusy opening freshness takes a backseat. As a confessed rose hater, I don’t smell anything from the rose listed in the heart note - thankfully!
In the dry down, a sweet musk remains that doesn’t hurt anyone.
Unfortunately, the longevity was rather below average for me. I sprayed moderately - about four sprays, and after three hours, the scent was only perceptible up close. However, I think that with more sprays, you could coax a bit more performance out of it - not to mention if you want that.
To what extent the name corresponds to the fragrance is something everyone must decide for themselves. Although I have never been to Mumbai, my mental imagery while spraying took place more in Southern Europe; I would have expected something spicier from Mumbai.
