The new Layton?
After the announcement of the fragrance pyramid of "Althaïr | Parfums de Marly", it was already clear to me that I would have to try the new fragrance sooner or later. After reading and seeing the first reviews of the fragrance, I wanted to smell it as soon as possible, so I ran to the nearest perfume store that I knew stocked Parfums de Marly - no luck, so far only available online directly from Parfums de Marly. A blind buy at that price?
In the meantime, I sold my bottle of "Emporio Armani - Stronger With You Oud | Giorgio Armani" in the souk. I think it's a great fragrance, but too similar to my "The One Luminous Night | Dolce & Gabbana", which I already own. But back to the topic.
With the "freshly earned" money in my pocket, I finally decided to order the fragrance blind directly from Parfums de Marly after a long period of consideration, more reviews and the ratings on Parfumo.
Arrived today, unpacked it straight away, sprayed it on and bang, what can I say?
After "Layton | Parfums de Marly", Parfums de Marly has once again perfectly managed to bridge the gap between designer and niche fragrances! On the one hand, it's suitable for the masses and stunning at first hit, as no designer fragrance could do better, on the other hand, the fragrance has absolute niche quality and yet, in my opinion, stands out from the well-known "mass fragrances" due to its composition.
The fragrance opens with a wonderful vanilla note that could have come from "Layton | Parfums de Marly". The fragrance is livened up by the notes of orange blossom and bergamot throughout the course of the fragrance, which prevents it from becoming too heavy or overwhelming, reminding me of the freshness achieved by the addition of ginger in "The Most Wanted Parfum | Azzaro". Althaïr is accompanied by a fine caramel note, which is never too heavy or overwhelming. In addition, "Althaïr | Parfums de Marly" is simply creamy and smooth and never feels scratchy.
As with the other fragrances from Parfums de Marly, the bottle is beautifully crafted and heavy, the beautiful color of the bottle looks even better in real life than in the pictures and perfectly reflects the character of the fragrance.
Overall, a perfect fragrance for me, which can even be worn on cooler summer days due to its freshness, but which can certainly show its strengths best in fall and winter.
If the fragrance notes appeal to you, definitely give it a try!
