Eau de France at Manufactum
Yesterday, I browsed through the perfume department at Manufactum in Waltrop and stumbled upon Eau de France. Floral, delicious, and somehow familiar. What does it remind me of? It took me 10 minutes before the 100% fragrance twin from my bathroom cabinet came to mind - Savoy Steam by Penhaligons. Only during the slow fading of the scent after 4 hours does Eau de France smell a bit more powdery than Savoy Steam.

Simpler Version ...
Once the opening is over, Ultimate smells like a weaker and simpler version of Penhaligon's Opus 1870. Towards the end, it even has a soapy quality. Basically, the budget aftershave to the Opus EdT.

Substitute Fragrance for Adventure
Today, Eternity for Men arrived for me to test how similar the scent is to the no longer produced Adidas Adventure. Maybe it can replace it.
I compared the two directly. Eternity on the left arm, Adidas on the right arm.
The overall tone of the top and heart notes smells almost the same. Eternity is a bit more citrusy, more lemon than the stated mandarin. After half an hour, they have come closer together. Adventure smells a bit more complex, rounder, more balanced, and elegantly understated. Eternity has a slightly cheekier, fresher scent and is a bit more present without being intrusive. I miss the slightly leathery tonka bean. The green scent affinity is clearly recognizable. They are not that far apart. Identical twins for sure not - but maybe half-brothers?
So far, Eternity for Men is certainly the scent that has come closest to Adidas Adventure. I will definitely choose it as a substitute fragrance when the stock of Adidas Adventure runs out. Hopefully, the scent in the bottle doesn't go off at some point ... the price tag still had DM.
