Why don't I deserve you?!
Is it like cursed? Am I fragrance-blind? What have I done that you don't want to hang out with me?

Reading the comments was like a little rollercoaster ride of emotions. "Yesss, I have to test this, it seems promising!" vs. "Oh no, the strong similarity to Gucci is not good at all!"

"What?! The similarity to Gucci is not good?! Dude, what's wrong with you?!!!" might have crossed the mind of some. Well, I would like to know that too. Because it’s not the perfume itself that is the problem, but rather my perception of it.
BfMA does indeed have a very strong resemblance to Gucci pour Homme. They might even be twins. Personally, I can't detect any difference. Although my nose is not particularly trained.

Bentley starts with a decent amount of incense. Mmmmm, very nice. Strongly spicy, slightly mineral, and even lighter peppery. Balanced and not synthetic at all for me. There is a kinship with Carbone de Balmain. A harmonious relationship, you enjoy seeing each other at family gatherings.
And as much as I would love to continue describing how the perfume develops and what else it might have in store, it has no chance on my skin. The incense lingers a bit, and then quite quickly, nothing happens anymore.
"I can't believe this," I thought. I had to go through the same thing when testing Gucci pour Homme. Initial excitement that unfortunately quickly turned into confusion.
"Where is it?" Gone. And that’s a shame. I can’t detect any development, and the sillage is.........well, there is none. The scent is not present, it holds back and shuts itself off from my nose. After a short time, I almost have to press my olfactory bulb through my epidermis just to catch a whiff of the fragrance.
Recently, I went overboard. Go for it! Spray a lot! Bathe in it! That was certainly 12-15 sprays that I blasted around me. Really disgusting. Well, not entirely. It didn’t help. Neither my own perception nor the sillage benefited from it. I’m just fragrance-blind.

His little (?) brother, Bentley for Men Intense, captivated me much more. There is a progression, a sillage, a presence. Oh, how I wish I could have that with Absolute (or even with Gucci).

I like you, but you just don’t stick with me. So I’ll let you go. The brief moments with you are still always beautiful.

Polarizer to fall in love with
Well, I can't really judge what exactly Amouage did right or wrong. I know too few of their creations for that.

However, after I was able to smell Epic Man (a wonderful and profound spice package), Jubilation XXV (I can't quite grasp it, a super perfume, but the sillage and longevity seem to always clock out on my skin) and just yesterday Journey Man (a berry-peppery blast!), thanks to Beautycase (thank you!), I received another Amouage sample. Interlude.
Misled by the design of the Interlude advertising campaign, I had the feeling it could be something from the 90s. At least back then, this scribble would have easily fetched quite a bit of cash in some shady art shop. Well, one can be mistaken. This gem is from 2012.

In the intoxication of joy at owning an Amouage sample, I beg you to refrain from laughter - students can't afford a bottle :D, after the first spray came the relentless slap of reality. "What the heck is that?!" Phew, I had to dig deep. Sweet-bitter and slightly biting notes made their way mercilessly into my nose. Slightly woody. Good: Without resistance. This stuff is brutally present and probably makes its way through the most stubborn nose. That covers the sillage.
A slight disappointment and the nagging question "...what on earth smells so peculiar?" Is it the opoponax? Perhaps, because I've never smelled anything like it before.
Time passed, Amouage Interlude remained. And remained. And was tested again a few days later, not because the interest in its uniqueness was so great (to put it mildly, sensationalism), but because I had recognized the beauty of Interlude. When you can't get the idea of a perfume out of your head, it can only be brutally bad or really good. The latter turned out to be true for Interlude.

It was probably the shock that initially kept me at a distance. Some perfumes you have to find your way to. It's like human love. You know each other for years and only in certain situations do you learn to love each other.
What I love about Interlude: Its individuality. Its slightly intrusive character and its "You can deal with it" mentality.
I simply suspect that the opoponax is the conductor in this little potion. The frankincense is well perceived, and if the nose is close enough, also the bergamot notes. However, the latter are not really dominant.
Leather, on the other hand, is not discernible by my olfactory apparatus. But Interlude doesn't need it, in my opinion. From the start, it's sweet but not feminine or even overpowering, and later it becomes quite woody. The opoponax note I suspected (suspected!) continues to hover over everything without taking up too much space. Others can play along too. Although as an oud fan (damn, that makes me a mainstreamer) I would have liked to have more of that. But this is also present. The woodiness continues and shares the co-lead as time goes on. Great!

I would describe Interlude as a beautifully woody-spicy, as well as slightly sweet Oriental charmer. Intrusive? Yes. But friendly and rightly polarizing. For me, still a masculine individualist, who may not yet be fully at home in the palace of the great, but gives the bouncer no chance to keep him out.
Great creation!

Dark Power!
Wow.

I read a lot about this fragrance and my expectations were higher than with many other scents during the first testing.

I am quite amazed. CIO is fully present with the first spray and convinces right from the start. Many others, even if they become incredibly good later, do not manage that. Although that can be disregarded.

CIO starts dark and remains so. Delightfully profound, and in line with its presentation, the scent puts one in a melancholic mood when sniffed, and if a perfume can achieve that, then in my eyes, it is already worth something. You are truly enveloped by the combination of bright freshness and dark strength. Compared to other "Oud-Heavyweights," this one holds back a bit more for my nose. Not a problem. Leather quickly makes its noticeable appearance, and the relationship to Colonia Intensa is almost unnecessary to mention. That is clear. For me, it’s a Colonia Intensa plus Oud, plus Leather. So good!
Even though there is much more to it, I don’t want to say much more about this beautiful little water. That’s already enough, because the composition of the ingredients is truly so damn wonderful that you have to smell it yourself. A lot of talk doesn’t help here.
Colonia Intensa Oud has more than earned its 90, and the 100 is only not given because it is reserved for a fragrance that immediately knocks my socks off. It was definitely close. Respect!

Old Man?
Hype this, hype that, it’s all just chatter when you make your own impression.
The thing with expectations is that you get them more or less pre-constructed as soon as you start reading the comments here. Phase one: A wave of euphoria spreads around this fragrance. Mostly positive things can be read. Phase two: Suddenly, many people find it annoying that the folks from phase one actually like this scent. So opinions go up and down. It’s funny, nobody gains anything from it, and it remains harmless.

A friend recently told me about this fragrance: "Smells like an old man."
My friend, on the other hand, really likes it. No fragrance is a crowd-pleaser for everyone, but the fact that it polarizes is quite impressive.

Personally, I like it. It starts off spicy and is not yet as sweet as it will become later. Leather is nicely present, and you can somehow already sense the rum. Quite tasty. The connection to Epic Man that I've read about through a few distant corners and unloved cousins is understandable and can be seen positively. The scent is a blast. A half spray too much and it becomes disgusting, as it gets incredibly sweet and heavy. To my disappointment, the robust character of the frankincense fades over time, and it becomes increasingly "rum-like." It’s not a drama, but the memory of Epic is nice.
From then on, it only gets sweeter in my nose, but at least on a really nice level. I can’t find much negative about the fragrance; no, I would have to search and be picky. I, one of the few here who don’t have much knowledge, don’t smell anything synthetic or the like.
A well-combined mix of spice and sweetness that can certainly please many noses... or not. I am a person from phase one. Maybe that makes me an "old man" at twenty-five?!
But that’s okay, you can definitely spray on Bentley fMI if you’re in the mood for leather, frankincense, and rum.

Golden Blackberry
I'll keep it short.
With Jubilation XXV, I personally feel conflicted. It is a really beautiful scent with great aromas, but not a "wow" fragrance like the local frontrunner from Guerlain.
Jubilation is very good, but it's also "only" very good and not outstanding for me. A solid A without a plus or stars.
The fragrance simply does not justify the high price, or perhaps we should sadly say. For a perfume that costs around €180 for 50ml, I expect more.
