...et puis je suis tombeé amoureuse
What else is there to say. A love story like the ones in fairy tales.

Because it's perfect. She was created by a higher power and her heavenly presence bewitches everyone who comes near her. But you must not get too close to it - because it stings. Her skin is adorned with pine needles and her breath is incense

But then she touches you. Immediately church bells start ringing and a warm cloud of incense envelops you. Contrary to expectations, her touch does not hurt, her needles are gentle. As if you were stomping through the forest in winter with heavy steps - no sound to be heard except the crunch of the snow under your shoes - a contemplative silence now spreads. Behind a fallen tree, a deer scurries past, which has known the smell of fresh snowfall in the remote coniferous forest all its life.

Back from the hike through the wintry scenery and off in front of the fireplace. It quickly turns out that the girl can be sweet too - like dried fruit at the Christmas market she loves so much. She embodies all those things that make the quietest time of the year so special and passes them on to all those who dare to touch her.

Fille en Aiguilles was my first niche perfume and love at first sight. Without exception, the fragrance always lifts my spirits in a magical way, like a cat with valerian :D

One might call it an acquired taste
The anticipation was great when the letter with the squid sample fluttered into the house. Beside Squid there were three other zoologist scents scattered around in the envelope, but the jar with the shimmering blue content attracted me magically.

Round 1: The test strips. A small splash on the strip and the fragrance of the perfume is as attractive as its aesthetics. A touch of sea salt is noticeable - the sun on my skin feels warmer immediately and I feel a cool breeze blowing around my nose. The summer feelings are quickly gone again, because the fragrance becomes warmer and heavier in my heart. Light vanilla and incense form the spectacle in the drydown and last until the end. This end has not yet been reached on the test strip, although it was used 3 weeks ago. So the expectations for test round two were accordingly high.

Round 2: Up against the skin. And now the first splash on the wrist. Whoa. If you don't mind me saying so, I've never been so overwhelmed by a perfume before - but that's not at all a positive thing to say in this case. A strange smell, which actually brings a touch of fish market, almost makes my nose cry. Who in God's name could voluntarily want to smell like that? The initial shock is still deep in my bones. But I show mercy and give him the chance to moult to the wonderful smell he was at the test strip.

After 10 minutes, there is indeed salvation: the familiar mixture of incense and vanilla come to the rescue. Like on the test strip, they form the gradiose finale to such an unorthodox mixture of fragrances on my wrist. Still 9 hours later I could still hear it on me, from the 6th hour on only close to the skin.

Actually, my trial run for a perfume is over. But Squid just won't let go of me that night. So the next day he gets another chance: The spray head is already aiming towards my wrist, but I hesitate. Will I be overwhelmed again by the disgusting start of yesterday? Come on, eyes closed and done.

The little drops of scent make contact with my skin and I am completely gone: No trace of fish market! Instead, I find myself in a submarine exploring the depths of the ocean. Surrounded by deep blue water it makes its way through the unknown. A calamar swims past the window of the submarine and can be admired in all its glory. So does zoologist Squid, who only reveals its true beauty when you meet it with caution and curiosity.
