Has Ombre Nomade diminished?
My journey into the world of high-end perfumes was supposed to begin with Ombre Nomade. So, I ordered a sample through the Souk and was in love by the dry down at the latest.
The scent started woody and smoky, with a subtle note of leather that was hardly noticeable after a few minutes. Quickly, a sweetness joined in, along with the fruity aspect of raspberry. In the background, I always associate ON with the smell of hairspray, which I personally liked very much. In the dry down, the combination of all the fragrance notes was perfect for me; I was completely convinced and wore the perfume for several more days.
The sample was slowly coming to an end, and I had long since decided to order this perfume. I ordered directly from the LV shop and impatiently waited for my package. Five days later, it finally arrived, and what can I say ... the packaging was perfect. A large package that looks inconspicuous from the outside so it won't get stolen reveals a real experience inside. Under the LV bag, which you would also receive in the store, there is a massive cardboard box in the center of the carton with a beautiful gift ribbon. Carefully opened, and two boxes later, I finally held the bottle in my hand and could hardly wait to experience this scent again.
I sprayed a burst on my wrist and was completely taken aback. A cloud came towards me that I did not know from my sample at all. Very animalistic and an extreme punch of leather hit me in the face. After 10-15 minutes, this brutal animal and leather aspect faded, but something was still missing. I could not perceive any raspberry, and the sweetness was far from what I was used to from this scent. Even in the dry down, there was no trace of the fruit; instead, there was a slight sweetness paired with dominant leather and animal notes.
Now, after a few days and several attempts, I was able to warm up to the scent more. The leather, in my opinion, is no longer as overpowering, and the animalistic aspect also fades over time. However, this will not appeal to every nose.
Regarding longevity and sillage, I have no comparison to the older versions. My batch (2M0L) becomes close to the skin after 4-5 hours, and on clothing, you can smell that there was once perfume after 10 hours, but that’s about it. My batch is definitely not a strong room filler, but maybe that’s not so bad after all.
