A Journey Through Berlin's Club Scene: The New "Berlin" Extrait de Parfum by Miguel Matos

With "Berlin", the Portuguese fragrance label Miguel Matos presents a new unisex fragrance that olfactorily captures Berlin's vibrant club culture.

The result is dark and industrial, but also woody and spicy, animalic and warm with an underlying sweetness. It's my most intimate fragrance so far and if you smell it, you get to know me a little better.

The composition of "Berlin" combines the sparkling freshness of Calabrian bergamot with the spicy, complex nuance of cumin and a hint of salt. Oakmoss, smoke, incense and animalic accords lend the fragrance a deep, dark complexity, while tonka bean, vanillin and amber, enhanced by Iso E Super, add a warm, sweet dimension.

Miguel Matos, the perfumer behind the composition and owner of the brand, describes the fragrance as a narrative of how visits to the German capital have shaped his culture and ultimately influenced his view of club culture and society. Thus, the first formula of the scent was created after a five-day clubbing session that included Club Ost, a night at Laboratory, two days at Berghain and finally the last night at Kit Kat.

I assembled all the smells and sensations I perceived from these places where techno made bodies move and interact in different ways. What I saw was an utopic bubble of humanity, and the primal gestures of dancing and sex.

"Berlin" completes the techno trilogy, which began in 2022 with the fragrance "Hard Techno" and continued in 2023 with "Unfold".

The new fragrance is available in a bottle size of 50 ml.
