A New Interpretation of Orange Blossom: The Eau de Parfum “Matsu Kï” by Masakï Matsushïma
With "Matsu Kï", the Japanese label Masakï Matsushïma celebrates joie de vivre and vitality, captured in a women's composition of soft florals and citrus freshness.
I wanted to create a fragrance that hovers between French elegance and Japanese refinement - in which the timeless orange blossom is reinterpreted: refined and delightful. I have combined it with keraji mandarin, which stands for its natural sweetness and liveliness, and with an orange tea accord that adds delicious candied facets. A contrast between freshness and warmth that creates a delicate balance: a fusion of Japanese purity with French depth - gentle and captivating at the same time.
Leonardo Lucheze, Perfumer

At the beginning of the composition, a sparkling accord of keraji mandarin and bergamot peel unfolds. Fruity raspberry and the candied sweetness of the Orangette accord lend the opening a slightly gourmand note. This is followed by an interplay of floral and spicy notes at the heart. Pink pepper provides a subtle spiciness that is balanced by lavender, Tunisian neroli and the warm sweetness of orange blossom honey. The base lends the fragrance depth and softness: amberwood and musk create a sensual foundation, while caramel and orange blossom absolute from Tunisia round off the composition with a creamy floral signature.
Kï: The invisible energy
The Japanese name "Kï" (気) stands for spirit, vitality and the energy inherent in all life. This concept served the perfumer Leonardo Lucheze as a leitmotif for the composition of "Matsu Kï", in which he combined lemon freshness, delicate flowers and gentle warmth.
The bottle design, which was created by the designer Masakï Matsushïma himself, also draws inspiration from the fragrance: The frosted, round curved shape encloses the orange-colored liquid and is topped with a bold orange cap.
