This snake rises into the air before coiling around you and taking your breath away
I'm always delighted when someone takes the trouble to lovingly package an order, perhaps adds a few selected samples and then perfumes the package with a beautiful fragrance.

Perhaps I should write 'I was always happy' at this point...

A few days ago, I received a parcel from Italy. And I was very pleased because it arrived so quickly and I was very excited about the fragrance.

When I opened it, my joy was immediately and drastically dampened by the martial stench that emanated from the parcel, which could perhaps be described as a leathery chemical cloud that hit me right in the olfactory center.

Phew, you immediately wonder whether some of the fragrance you ordered for the blindshare has leaked and now smells so awful and whether you should feel sorry for yourself and the sharing participants.

I dug the fragrance out of layers of bubble wrap, tissue paper, sample sachets and fragrance cards relatively quickly, it was intact, the paper packaging also smelled horrible, but the fragrance didn't. Phew, lucky me. Phew, lucky for me.

So keep looking, it can't be, something must have leaked and turned the whole package into a zone of presumably toxic vapors (do I still have a breathing mask somewhere?).

I sniffed every piece of bubble wrap, every shred of tissue paper, every sachet, every fragrance card individually (probably looked pretty funny) and first took a large batch of packaging material including cardboard (which smelled the worst) out to the garbage can; I didn't want / couldn't have it in the apartment.

On the way back from the garbage can, I trudged back through the cloud of fragrance that I had created during my disposal action - I can only say that the sillage was impressive.

As I had disposed of the box, I packed the leftovers that I found to be uninfected (bottle, sample, fragrance cards, a piece of very pretty tissue paper) in a shoe box and put them in the bedroom.

2 hours later (I had run some errands):
After opening the lid of the shoe box, I immediately removed it from the bedroom, as another cloud was preparing to spread.

In the living room, I then inspected the contents of the shoe box with the window open and found that the entire contents smelled of this beast (I don't think there's any other way to describe it), probably the parts I had already disposed of had been directly sprayed with the fragrance and smelled stronger, the remaining remnants had probably only taken on this smell due to their proximity to the scented parts. Even the shoe box, in which the less intensely smelling individual parts had only spent 2 hours, now smelled of it!

After I couldn't find a source for the - really breathtaking, but not in a positive sense - smell, I inspected the fragrance cards again.
And then saw that there was a lovingly hand-written card with a few very nice words on it and then 'By the way, the fragrance with which the package is scented is Boa Madre'.

Anyone who has made it this far:
Sorry for the long story, but I think it describes very vividly how I perceive Boa Madre and how intense this fragrance is.

For those who really like this fragrance - I see it has gotten some very good reviews:
Don't be angry. I don't smell any of the things you describe. It's probably there, but in my case it's drowned out by a leathery chemical accident that butchers away everything else, it was not a pleasant experience for me.

Crème brûlée to spray on - and a little moss
I actually wanted to write a statement about the fragrance. Due to the moss incident - which I can't get into 142 characters - it has now become a review after all.

Basically, what you get here at the beginning is more or less what the fragrance notes promise:

Benzoin: I perceive it if only very subliminally
Bourbon vanilla: Yes
Musk: Nope
Star anise: Yes
Sugar: Yes!

To me, the fragrance smells like granulated sugar that has been flavored with vanilla pod and star anise for weeks.
Sweet, spicy, intense.
Or just like crème brûlée - or the crust on top.

But every now and then - I don't always notice it - there's another note that I couldn't identify at first:
You can smell it when you open the packaging.
You can smell it when the fragrance dries down, it becomes a little more intense in the drydown.

I was confused and wondered what it could be, some green, tart note that basically seems to have no place in this fragrance. But it enriches the fragrance in my opinion.

The Jehanne Rigaud brand does not have its own website, it merged with Jean Payan in 2002, but is not sold on the website there either. However, the fragrances are available from resellers. Because the green note left me no peace, I browsed through some of the reseller sites, unfortunately mostly unsuccessfully, because the same notes were always listed that are here on Parfumo.

Until I found a website where 'moss' was listed under the base notes.
Obviously this is a wrong translation, it should be musk - at least it says musk everywhere else...

But after reading moss, this unknown note smells like moss to me! :)

Vanilla perfume with moss? I'd normally say 'urgs', but here I like it, the green fleck makes this scent a little lighter, brighter for me.

Overall, however, the fragrance is a little too sweet for me - but definitely suitable for sweet tooths.

Small odor explosion
Take
Firecracker, cassis, tangerine
Labdanum, violet leaf, cinnamon
Benzoin, tonka bean, vanilla
mix everything thoroughly, et voilà...

'''''''

The whole kitchen smells of the cookies I baked this morning
A special recipe, for the holiday on July 14.

It smells very strongly of vanilla, the tonka bean that I grated into the dough is not really noticeable, but it makes the overall impression a little warmer / darker, almost chocolaty. Cinnamon and violet leaves can be smelled very clearly.
I crumbled a few dried violet leaves into the batter and used the others to decorate the fruity icing, which was refined with a few drops of cassis and tangerine.

Not cookies for every day, but I like to bake them for special occasions and everyone looks forward to them.

'''''''

I don't know if there really is a recipe that contains the ingredients mentioned.
But to me, the scent smells like a delicious cookie made with these ingredients.
And that I would probably rather smell than eat.

When you spray it on, it's a little explosion of smell, very spicy, maybe that's my perception of the firecracker note.
When I first tested it, I perceived the violet leaf very strongly (actually too strongly), but now, after wearing the fragrance a few times, I find this note to be a very fitting part of the overall impression, it makes the fragrance special and very appealing to me.

A very beautiful, sweet and spicy vanilla!

A word about the bottle and the overall impression created by the color of the perfume and the lettering:
The golden-yellow color of the perfume and the pastel green lettering make the bottle really glow when some light falls on it - it definitely goes perfectly with fireworks!

Scented room
I open the door to the storage and workroom behind the store, step inside and close the door again.
The silence that reigns here literally swallows me up, the street noise and the conversations of passers-by cannot be heard here.
In the twilight that filters through the half-closed blinds, I move to the table and switch on the small lamp that illuminates the work surface; I have to finish some orders for dispatch.
The room smells intensely of the latest delivery of black tea, a smoky variety. I don't know what it tastes like yet, but the smell is pleasant and envelops me with every step. I collect the orders from the shelves, and every now and then I get a whiff of the tart, bitter notes of the quinces that I want to process later on.
I put the goods down on the worktable and bend down to pull out some of the shipping boxes stacked under the table.
The smell of vanilla hits my nose - a few months ago, a bottle of vanilla extract broke and the contents spilled over parts of the worktop and the floorboards. The liquid and its smell have soaked into the pores of the wood, mixing with the light wood scent that is always present in this room.
As I sit down, the same smell rises up from the worktop with a little more intensity and mixes with the black tea and green quince sprinkles.
I'm glad that I can work here for a while.

№ 30 Thé Arabique doesn't smell like a perfume to me, but like a scent aura that some rooms or people have; I would like to linger in this room here.

I only perceive the notes described above. Whiskey is not present for me. I have never consciously smelled gurjun balsam, it is supposed to smell woody-peppery, perhaps this is the very nice, dry woody note that I perceive.

Since I've owned the fragrance, I've become a bit addicted to it. It's only the fact that I own other perfumes that I also like to wear that stops me from wearing it all the time.

I ended up with № 30 Thé Arabique because of the similarity to Baraonda described above - which I can confirm, the fragrances are very similar to my nose in the drydown.
With Baraonda I was always put off by the projection and longevity (it was too much for me), this one is wearable for me. Although it could be a bit more intense / longer lasting; there is another perfume concentration, I think I will test that one.

Spring vanilla with a twist
A friendly perfumer gave me a Travel-TZ from Wish for Spring.
Unlike her, I like vanilla fragrances and after wearing it several times, it has now turned out that I also like this one in particular.

I can't really pick out individual notes; for me, it's just a very beautifully interwoven overall result that is very wearable right now - spring is always peeking out, it's getting warmer and greener, the first flowers are appearing.

What does this fragrance smell like now, I'll give it a try:
Of the notes listed, I very clearly perceive the vanilla.
Furthermore, a certain spiciness with a fresh twist.
I can't say exactly where this comes from, perhaps it comes from the combination of tonka bean with a lemony vetiver, which then has a sweet-spicy-fresh effect for me.

I don't notice any fruits or flowers at all; perhaps a violet pastille beckons from afar and then disappears again.

For me, the drydown is a super beautiful, spicy vanilla:
The scent had probably settled in my cardigan after the first time I wore it, which was very funny, as I kept noticing a very nice whiff the next day and wondered where it came from. Until I realized that it was the drydown in the cardigan.

As I was a little confused by the not-so-good rating here and the classification as a violet fragrance (I perceive the fragrance completely differently), I asked people in my private circle (not perfumos / perfumas) to test the fragrance:
The feedback was consistently very positive. Vanilla, sandalwood, amber and apricot were perceived. And the fragrance was classified as high quality (and delicious ;>).

I was also able to determine through the tests: The fragrance also smells good - to my nose - on another person.

Pollita took up the cudgels for the brand's 'un-oud' fragrances in one of her blogs:
I agree here, I find the fragrance very nice, definitely worth testing for vanilla lovers.

There is still one tiny fly in the ointment for me:
The fragrance is a little too intense for me, i.e. I have to spray carefully, otherwise it becomes too much for me.
But sprayed carefully, the fragrance is really very nice - maybe not just in spring :)
