It was one of the best of his kind
The One for Men is for me the best example of the
reformulation craze of manufacturers.
I bought the EdT when it was released in 2008.
An amber, sweet-spicy warm scent as an Eau de Toilette.
The strong orange blossom as the heart note defined the fragrance.
At times, it was even too much for me back then, but I wore it in the summer.
So the empty bottle from 2008 stood on my shelf for almost 10 years.
I recently smelled it again, mhh it smells good. It brought back memories of the past.
A few days later, I tested the same fragrance in a drugstore.
What is this? This is not the same scent, I thought.
Strongly reformulated, diluted, the orange blossom drastically toned down.
Like a candle where the burning wick is suffocated.
I spray again and again. Still nothing.
Like water with a slight aroma.
Especially when you associate memories with a fragrance,
you want to have the original scent back.
Today I am wearing the vintage with batch 2011 again.
One spray without reapplying:
The first 4 hours show very good performance for an EdT.
In the first 30-60 minutes, strong sillage.
After 4 hours it fades, but is still perceptible.
Even in the 5-6 hour range, it comes close.
With 3-4 sprays, it is correspondingly strong.
I even prefer the old version to the Eau de Parfum.
Even that does not have as much of the original scent,
although it comes close.
Conclusion: I would not buy the current The One for Men anymore.
