Like a Memory of standing beside a Jasmine bush
When I first tested both the Do Son EDT and EDP on paper strips, back in my early fragrance days, the EDT was the clear winner. I was looking for a photorealistic white floral that captured the scent of jasmine in my grandmother’s garden in the Middle East.
But on skin? The EDP won. Hands down.
On skin, the EDP delivers beautifully on that photorealistic white floral experience, with a touch of orange blossom in the background that keeps it fresh and clean. The EDT, on the other hand, fell flat for me. And unlike many tuberose-heavy fragrances, neither version of Do Son gives off that indolic, almost fecal note that some jasmine or tuberose fragrances have (I’m looking at you, Olène!).
The Do Son EDP is the perfect white floral fragrance for anyone craving the scent of real, living jasmine—fresh, clean, and true to life. No rotten or fecal undertones in sight. It smells like you’re standing right next to a blooming jasmine bush, basking in that fresh and creamy, natural scent.
That said, this isn’t a safe blind buy. What Do Son delivers, it delivers unapologetically—you have to love what it’s going for to truly enjoy it: a pure, living jasmine bush in a summer garden. If you don’t have a soft spot for jasmine or aren’t already a little obsessed with tuberose, it might come across as too intense. And if you typically lean toward more conventional fragrances or blended florals, this one might feel a bit too raw or singular. But in my opinion, it’s absolutely worth trying. Especially on skin.
The ultimate soap fragrance
This fragrance does exactly what it sets out to do—if someone were to tell me they wanted to smell just like a bar of Dove Soap, this is precisely where I would point them. This is a safe blind buy for people looking for exactly that. Personally, I want something a little more out of a fragrance, something to take it over the top. But as someone who loves clean fragrances, it’s certainly not a fragrance I would be disappointed to receive as a gift.
The projection, too, surprised me. I got this with a bunch of 20-something sample vials from different brands. Paper Soap, much to my surprise, had the best projection of the whole lot. Definitely makes it great value for the money in my opinion.
Sweet, green fragrance that smells like a bathroom in a fancy restaurant
I was really excited to try this fragrance because I love tea and I love fresh fragrances! On first spray, I was initially intrigued, but…it really fell flat.
Unfortunately, I don’t get any tea from this, and contrary to what most people seem to get, I don’t get “fresh” at all—just green. There’s definitely cedarwood and vetiver and fig, all notes I normally like, but the combination in this particular fragrance is lackluster as far as I’m concerned. It all combines with a sugary sweetness that makes this smell unlikeable for me and even slightly nauseating.
Personally, as someone who likes clean, fresh fragrances, and dislikes overly sweet fragrances this one is definitely a miss. If you like sugary, green fragrances, however, this fragrance might be worth trying for you.
