Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Sergio Momo?
Symphony - Wholeness, rich totality, immense abundance, in which various details impressively interact - this is how the Duden defines it.
Does Xerjoff's Symphonium live up to this description? Absolutely. I even dare to claim that this is the best fragrance from the renowned Italian house.
The scent opens with a creamy citrus note, thanks to the orange and mandarin. Quickly, a dark chocolate note joins in, refined by a hint of cardamom. The masterpiece is rounded off by a base of vanilla, musk, and two types of oud. It should be noted that, according to Sergio Momo, this is real oud. In his words: ..."a ton of Oud".
I cannot relate to the barn associations that have often been described in statements. Much more, I find the oud note pleasant; it beautifully completes the fragrance. Like a well-composed piece of music, the scent connects contrasts and brings you together in a harmonious and excellent composition.
Xerjoff and I have not been great friends in the past, too many - and sometimes too generic - fragrances - quantity over quality. Symphonium certainly helped me to approach the house again, and who knows? Perhaps the house will return to its former glory.
