the unicorn's ritual
Mist parts to reveal a shimmering unicorn standing in a garden at dusk. You drink the Bête's milk from a delicate silver chalice, thus initiating you into a magical ceremony. It tastes slightly sweet, of coconut milk and tuberose.

According to medieval myth, there was one surefire way to find a unicorn. Da Vinci wrote, “The unicorn…because of its intemperance, not knowing how to control itself before the delight it feels towards maidens, forgets its ferocity and wildness, and casting aside all fear it will go up to the seated maiden and sleep in her lap..." Elaborating on the love girls feel for these mythic creatures, Nina Shen Rastogi remarks, "[T]he unicorn would be attracted to her innate goodness, purity, her beauty, her youth. For many young girls, there is a fantasy that someday you will be recognized as the secretly beautiful, magical thing that you are. The unicorn would be attracted to something ineffable about you, secret from the rest of the world."

Blanche Bête is all dreamy fantasy without guilt or complication. Just like with real milk, there's a body beneath this magical elixir. It's a very sexy wear, but a private one. Others might smell it but they don't know its secret - you've been chosen by the unicorn.

lilacs for those who prefer the indoors
Lilacs are a perfect embodiment of life and death; they start to decay before they have even fully opened However, this has none of the melancholy April wetness that real lilacs do. It’s a powdery whisper. This is a cottagecore fragrance with emphasis on the "cottage" of it all. This is not an outdoorsy fragrance, but rather one to be worn atop a cotton eyelet dress while sipping tea on a window seat. It’s gone in a flash. Would not recommend this as an introduction to MZ perfumes.

smoke-soaked bouquet
Never have I done such a 180 on a scent. Upon first spray this smelled like the carpet of the smoker’s room in the airport after it’s been vacuumed – a little staticky, melted plastic, and a lot of stale cigarette smoke. “Ew no thank you,” I said. My boyfriend, a former smoker, liked it a lot. I left Erawan alone for a while, then decided to see how it wore on a day when I didn’t have any strong scent inclinations. It retained that old smoke smell, but a gorgeous white flower emerged. This isn’t described as a floral scent, but to me it’s a gorgeous bouquet of cigarette smoke lingering in soft white flower petals and thick vanilla cream. It's sexy and bad like a leather jacket.

a courtesan's boudoir
La Divina is equal parts sexy and genteel, nicely bridging the gap between pleasant floral and edgy musk. The inspiration for this fragrance may have lived during the Middle Ages, but I picture this as the '80s daytime soap biopic. Rose scented face powder, rose water in a tasseled atomizer, candied rose petals on a pink vanity, all shot in rosy soft focus. Beneath this is a musk - behind the sheer canopy curtains, the bedsheets are tousled and sweated through. La Divina manages to be very hot and ladylike at the same time.

a finely made gourmand for grownups
It’s like you made a cheesecake interpretation of the classic pink strawberry shortcake ice cream bar - a tart, fruity, crunchy coating over a tangy, creamy interior atop a buttery graham cracker crust. The cheesecake note is uncannily realistic, which is why some people find this gross I suspect. It’s authentically lactonic and if dairy doesn’t agree with you this fragrance probably won’t either. Scrumptious and fun to wear.
