There is old school and then there is OLD school.
Floris created this scent for Russian Grand Duke Orloff in the 1890's but did not release it to the public until 1934 when it became known as Special 127 (as that was the page number it was on in the Special's book). This is a Eau de Cologne with a very orangey citrus opening on a bed of herbals, in this case geranium. This is quickly taken over by the heart of florals. My noes is not sophisticated enough to give you the main florals here, however, they are the majority of this scent as it dries down with a slightly musky base.
Heck, this is so old that it may be in vogue again in the spring and summer as now we have no gender fragrances for all. It is just funny to be that back in the day this was created for a military man and then worn by women and men alike before we ever termed the phrase unisex.
It is to floral for me to buy a bottle again, however, there are bright sunny spring days where I would still appreciate a spritz of this to greet the day with.

TDH with more woods.
I heard how much this smelled like TDH and I found it for a great price so why not. It indeed does have some close resemblance to TDH, no grapefruit in the opening but a generic citrus blast with some decent pepper to wake you up. This settles into a woody dry down with a very light hint of leather to me.
Truthfully this is a quintessential English Baber Shop scent. If you enjoy shaving, or want to up your game and possibly learnt to enjoy shaving, D.R. Harris has a whole line in the Windsor collection including some of the best shave soap on the market. Great company that goes over looked outside of the wet shaving circles.

A classic gentleman's scent from the 90's.
This was a very easy men's cologne to wear. It was manly and sophisticated. The kind of non offensive office scent that many today would refer to as "mature." It was probably referred to as that back in the 90's when I wore it as I have always been a sucker for a classic gentlemanly fragrance. Long discontinued and forgotten.
What could have been, but sadly was not for me . . .
Dunhill Indian Sandalwood is quite the beautiful fragrance even if it is not made with real sandalwood. Just so creamy and warm with a what I consider a masculine and professional scent. I love the smell of this and the feel in the morning when I put it on prior to dressing for work. That said, I do not love how weak the longevity is. I wear it to the office, I don't need to project much more than the few feet around me and really don't want great sillage either. No worries as the projection is minimum for the time I spray it on for maybe the first hour and the their isn't any sillage to worry about. But my biggest gripe is that this is gone in three to maybe three and a half hours after spraying it. I am being generous with that time period too. Additionally, that is with around ten good sprays.
So in short, lovely scent with horrible longevity. Can't be that upset with this blind buy as it was only $53. I will search on for a sandalwood with staying power

One citrus to inspire them all.
My bottle is an older version of the aftershave for men. Right away you know as an aftershave it will not have even the strength of the EDT/EDP, however, what it did have is one of the best citrus moments of my life. Lemon, citron, even a little orange, simply stunning realistic citrus. Was it gone in less than thirty minutes, yes, but who cares it was beautiful. Sometime after I got this bottle I quit shaving and grew a beard . . . that was well over a decade ago. I kept this bottle in a dark cabinet (air conditioned all the time). I recently went back to just sample the citrus (having rediscovered my love for fragrances) and to my disappointment they were gone. A citrus that magical probably just doesn't age well regardless the way it was stored but wow, when it was fresh, what a stunner.
