There are few perfumes where opinions clash as they do with Etro's "Fair".... Very entertaining!!
Reflects quite, what we have already come across to this.
My first thought when my wife tried on the fragrance was: "Smells like a first-class, mature Bordeaux, which unfortunately has a touch of cork", so already something of the highest class, like La Mission Haut-Brion 1989 or so, but just with Beiton. Or maybe - the priest has a passion for great wines and likes to treat himself to such a little glass in the sacristy. But the note is only strange with wine, otherwise "mass" is for us quite the elegant, somewhat heavier fragrance for the grand entrance, lace dressed evening gown, etc., but of course not in time. - but of course in no case in the temporal or local proximity of a wine tasting... and also otherwise to be dosed carefully. Even more so, where you can no longer get it.
So with shellacs now and then gladly smelled, and our friends we have also not yet managed to scare with it.
On the other hand: years ago, my wife was looking for (another) incense-heavy perfume. We enter a small, fine perfumery in the capital. A very competent and polite gentleman serves us. She recites her request, I want to be useful and throw in a "So maybe more intense incense than the Messe de Minuit". Suddenly - we are startled by a hair :-) - the friendly salesman flips on Snapchat (and from High German into dialect): "Messe de Minuit? I can't stand that. Net amal in d'Gruft derffns ma des nachschütten!!!" Well, fortunately he quickly calmed down again, and we finally left the shop satisfied with a flacon of Full Incense by Montal.
My wife appreciates the latter still very much, also the "fair" continues to be used with pleasure.

But the demonstration of the strong emotions that a perfume can trigger was already impressive!

Just a small addition
This funny and delightfully packaged fragrance of the British manufacturer has already been described here by many in detail. Some use the expression "sweet fir". Yes, I can agree with that, absolutely. But as a resident of the alpine foothills, I would like to suggest a more precise term: ZIRBE!!! Exactly THAT conifer is in play there for me. Develops a few minutes after spraying.
The Zirbe enjoys high reputation in the folklore - thus its smell is to guarantee among other things particularly restful sleep, which led to the fact that there is everything from the Zirben Duftöl for the Kapillarstäbchen over Zirbenholzschartenpolster up to the bedroom built completely from Zirbe in the alpine periphery. And one knows also a kultigen liquor, which is put on with - not completely simply to procuring - not yet completely ripe Zirbenzapfen. This is not only produced industrially, but is also the subject of fiercely contested competitions by amateur producers. And who knows, maybe you could score a few extra points in such a competition if you put on the Terrible Teddy beforehand?

Grandseigneur old and a little dark school
We have purchased the perfume "on suspicion" and only on the basis of the description in the webshop at the discount action of a Viennese perfumery chain - something that you should not do GAR, but what remains to one already in the lock-down??
In short: neither I as a wearer nor my wife as (on miss and flat synthetic tones quite sensitive) Schnüfflerin were disappointed.
We tried it right on the skin.
At the beginning of tar notes, of course heavy leather, but then also the scent of high-quality cigar tobacco, dark chocolate, old rum, the sweetness of Kentucky Bourbon Reserve; even some port wine creeps in.
Later tonka beans, also cautious floral notes (minimally even violets??) and sweetly underpinned rubber, perhaps a slight reminder of Etro's "Gomma".
Overall warm, powerful, without being intrusive or even slaying.
On the one hand, association to classic gentlemen's evening, not in a tuxedo, but in any case in a blazer, with ripe Cabernets, then cognac or port wine (this perfume would probably not even bother when trying such drinks, which is otherwise very critical!), but on the other hand, a nice evening at home for two, with classical music.
