The Queen of Silk and the Oud
When I found my sample of Queen of Silk in the mailbox today, I was very curious about the scent and didn't hesitate long to spray it on…

I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive about the oud when reading the fragrance pyramid. (You should know, oud is my arch-nemesis when it comes to fragrance notes - I just can't warm up to the wood.)
And indeed: in the first few seconds, it was clearly noticeable. The dominant wood, which has ruined many a fragrance for me. So I thought, that was it for me and the Queen of Silk.

But then the scent transformed, the oud became quieter, and I detected the saffron, with something sweet and floral already hinting in the background.
Slowly, the magnolia emerged, which then dominated the fragrance. Overall, it became sweeter and, to my surprise, very powdery!

In the heart note, a sadly synthetic, but very fruity passion fruit joins the powdery magnolia. For me, this fragrance combination remains until the end, only becoming a bit more synthetic in the base note, which is likely due to the ambroxan. The remaining fragrance notes remain quite (!) subtle in the base. I really have to press my nose against my arm to perceive any vanilla.

The oud resonates until the very last second. It stays discreetly in the background, so I can live with it well, but it clearly gives the perfume a woody-oriental character.

Queen of Silk is not for every day, and it is not mainstream. It is more suited for the grand appearance of a confident woman.
