Floral Truffle Afgano - Faux Pas!
One day, a colleague wore Black Orchid in the office. But only once. After that, she never dared to wear it again. How tragic.

Even in the hallway, I noticed the unusual, dark resinous note.

"Damn, someone is wearing Black Afgano?" I blurted out loudly in a fit of emotion. Then I stuck my head into the 'suspect' office.
I was so paralyzed that I clumsily asked, "Is that you?"
I’m such a clod.
"What are you wearing?"
The poor girl turned bright red.
She stammered, "That's probably my perfume."
"Is it Black Afgano?"
"Uh, no. It's called... something... Black Orchid!"

I can still smell it today, 8 months later, when I occasionally stop by. Dark, resinous, floral gourmand... Surely it’s just the association with the dark-haired young woman. But this scent was impressive... as was the very pretty young lady! She embodied for me the sweetness, the gourmand aspect of the whole situation.

And I was on the wrong Black Afgano trail. What a faux pas. On top of that. Clod AND blockhead!

Black Afgano on floral truffles. That's how Black Orchid should actually be named. O.K., Sir! Throw down some brains from heaven...

Caribbean Copacabana - Brazilian Havana
Another geographical confusion to start with: The fragrance is actually called "Cuba Brasil Copacabana" (CBC). Not Cuba Mexico.

But enough of the geographical confusion.

CBC presents a very nice warm, yet not overpowering spice, which I would rather associate with the colorful and cheerful Caribbean than with a dirty urban beach. It reminds me of a lighter version of Aramis' Havana, a scent that I love above all, but which, due to its extroverted character, does not fit all occasions (although it is already significantly toned down from the original version).

CBC comes across as more playful and lighter. The listed fragrance notes are all recognizable, including pleasantly muted Brazil tobacco. There’s also a modern but not exaggerated sweetness. Due to its lightness, the sillage and longevity are of course limited. However, at a price of well under 10 €/100ml, this 'drawback' (which isn't really one) can be easily managed with a Blend-A-Med smile and a few extra spritzes.

A truly likable fragrance with a Caribbean feel. Bring on the sun and a Cuba Libre!
