The Hedonist, put polite.
Beautiful ginger forward woody aromatic scent profile. Smooth lux, so clean and polite. Almost delicate. This is an ideal scent for a professional or office situation. It's such a fresh slightly warm round smell, not angular so, it will not offend. But again, it's high quality and effortless. Love. Wish it were $50-75 cheaper

1996 is no ordinary Byredo
Love love love this fragrance. I disagree with the two reviews below.

The air is cold and the leaves are falling and it's time to bring out this underrated GEM from ByeByeRedo.

1996 is in the vien of something like Tempo (earthy patchouli) but wears drier, more ambery and much longer lasting. There is juniper up top giving it a little piney dry fruit but it only sticks around for the opening. It has also has this intriguing glossy magazine paper smell. I find a lot of the fragrances from this house have a plastic quality. Back to 1996...This is an art space patchouli bomb, but with dusty iris/orris and a subtle worn leather accord that is more fitting for an antique book shop or vintage furniture store. I have some ambers and patch scents but this one is super unique.

*Not a blind buy scent unless you really love a big patchouli/amber! I also heard it's been discontinued.

Better, Blue Wood
Blue Wood is BETTER than Layton. Here's why.
First Blue Wood is created by the same perfumer but here, we have dropped the sickly sweet apple note and replaced it with smoother citrus. The medicinal Vicks/TigerBalm smell has been toned down and the OVERALL scent has been rounded out, refined and completed. It's not as jagged and synthetic as Layton can seem. It's also 100 cheaper, but still radiates with good silage and a nice scent bubble. I have nothing further to add. Take care!

Reflection Man in 2024
I've been collecting for a little under a year, so my nose is not very "refined". Still, this is simply one of the best fragrances I've come across in my short foray into perfumes. I lived in New Orleans for about 15 years and have since moved away...but I mentioned it because of the jasmine. Reflection smells like New Orleans. Dirty sweet air, a little spicy with jasmine wafting around night air. If you've been there, you know what I'm referring to. Intoxicating scent, beautiful city.

Why not have both?
Dior Homme 2020 came to me while shopping for a great daily/office/proffesional scent search. I tried quite a few as I didn't trust a blind buy for this. I won't list the ones I tried but ya know...a few popular blues Chanel, some Polo, Prada and a Le Labo etc etc to name a few. When I came across Dior Homme 2020, the quality of the mix, the effortless class and unreal creamy dry down won me over. We are all partial to our own opinions, but I knew right away we were on another level (for me).

It's a dumb reach now. Totally refined, classy, easy and always elegant. It starts out rather bright, woodsy and masculine, but the dry down feels more sensitive, sensual, and sexy. The juice is mixed very well.

That being said, Dior Homme Original is still the goat. Truly a 10/10 masterpiece from Demachy. However, I reserve it for cooler weather, date nights or functions. To me 2020 is signature worthy and OG is for feelin all fancy! Enjoy!

*Both Dior Homme 2020 and OG are mature scents of +30. Not saying a young person can't or shouldn't wear! You do you of course.
