Silverfire:
One of the biggest problems in an internet community is when the rules are not stated explicitly. Although I disagree with the notion that Parfumo is censoring anyone, there are limitations on freedom of speech here that are not stated explicitly -- or worse -- were changed without notifying anyone. That is precisely the kind of thing that destroys trust, both slowly as in corrosion, and quickly, as in detonation.
Yes, Silverfire: it all comes down to trust. I am surprised that
Apicius, an attorney by profession, does not recognize what the issue here is. It's not about me liking cats. It's about the terms of an oral agreement. I agreed to contribute content to this site under the conditions specified by Don upon my arrival here at Parfumo. We discussed the terms, and now he has violated the terms of that agreement.
Obviously, I won't be suing Don Don [sic], but I would like to point out that when the question of cats came up earlier this year, in January 2013, and
after the permissibility of cats in perfume pictures was
REAFFIRMED, I purchased a new camera and a tripod specifically so that I could contribute higher-quality images to this site (I had been using the eye on my netbook up to that time). I will be using my new camera for the salon de parfum now, but the reason why I bought the camera was for use at this site.
That small financial investment pales in comparison to all of the time, energy, and thought which I have invested in this place in the form of reviews and, yes, pictures. I am sorry that the administration now feels that my efforts are devoid of value.
I have contributed something like 500K words of text to this site, which is equivalent to about five books. Yes, I am a published author, and, yes, anyone (whether cat hater or not) who does not recognize the value of this contribution is an arrant fool.
Because I disagree with the new and arbitrary rules (men standing in their underwear with their penis clearly outlined are allowed, but not cats?????), I will contribute no further new content to this site. I no longer trust Don, who is subject to the whims of the sorts of creeps who type into Google search "sherapops cat pictures are annoying" over and over again, so that the message will show up in my Blogger dashboard for the salon de parfum.
In the end, this community is ruled by Don Don [sic], and if he wishes to placate such people, then I can only say that I feel sorry not only for him but also this site.
