Faberge? Babe and Brut?

OMG that has got to be it, the clues were brilliant!

Triffid:
Sorry, no, Cincy but thanks for trying. These are a pretty groovy pair if that helps with the era.

The male of the two
Is sold to this day,
The female, alas,
has now passed away.

How adorable that you write your clues in verse!

Very Happy

You've done it again, Cryptic, CORRECT!
I can still remember those cheesy ads 'you're fabulous Babe' with the gorgeous, late Margaux Hemingway. How I wanted to be fabulous too!

Sherapop, I have mentioned it before, but I do feel I have missed my calling as a greeting card poet. I think that's as high as I should aim, really. The Flame by Burger King rhyming clue (page 121) is still my favourite literary work.

Two perfumes, one house. The first is named after an ABBA hit, the second after a Blondie hit.

Triffid:
Here we go then:

Drive past the golden arches.
Dont stop to get your meal.
'Cos this place has a fragrance!
(Though with limited appeal)

If 'gourmand' is your genre
And you don't mind swatting flies,
Then wear this as a side dish
To your onion rings and fries.

What is the fragrance/house?

Thank you so much for providing the reference for this juicy piece of comic relief!

The house is Ava Luxe and the perfumes are "Dancing Queen" for the ABBA number and "Heart of Glass" for the Blondie hit.
Sherapop, there are many more but you may also enjoy page 124.

You got it! Good job. Wink

Here is the next one:

When you're at the airport
Please enjoy a shopping spree,
Be sure to grab some perfume
Hey, why not - it's duty free!

The choices are confusing,
You're filled with hesitation,
So why not buy a perfume
That will match your destination;

You're off to see the bright lights
And enjoy the rising sun,
This city will be crowded
But you're sure to have some fun.

House and fragrance?

I will take a stab, Shiseido Zen?

Sorry M, you are heading towards the right destination but have missed the landing (hint: the answer is a real, not a metaphorical, location).

Additional clue:

So now you've bought a perfume
And are waiting for the plane,
The smell as you are leaving
Will translate to this brand's name.

That sounds like Diesel, but do they have any place-name perfumes?

I was thinking Scents of Departure, too. Do they have a Tokyo?

Confused:

I'm going with:

The Scent of Departure "Tokyo"
Razz

Ding Ding! You are CORRECT Sherapop. I'm wondering whether these fragrances, all named after cities, were designed to be sold as souvenirs at the airport, perhaps so one could offload those pesky foreign coins before departure? Who knows.
I look forward to your clues.

I get so caught up in Triffid's poems that I forget what it is I'm here for.

Aren't they lovely? I'm going to have to try to hammer one out...

You are all most kind but everyone deserves credit for their perfume brain teasers. The pictograms, the "whodunnit' style mystery clue feeds, the attention to obscure and quirky houses and fragrance names, as well as the members who kindly post clues for things I might actually know.
It's also a good way to employ some of the Parfumo features. Before I got cluey, I'd rarely used features like the brand directory, year of release function or key word search. I just thought that everyone playing the game had an encyclopaedic and rather intimidating knowledge of thousands of fragrances in their heads.
Good to see some new and returning members to the game!

What a nice thing to say. Smile

I agree, Triffid, your poems are excellent. And I get the impression they come to you easily. That's not a common talent.

Thankyou Dulcemio, that is very kind of you!. I am a fan of Hilaire Belloc's children's books, especially 'Cautionary Tales for Children' - a morbid and humorous parody in verse.
I really need to write some reviews, though (and not rhyming ones).

Hey Sherapop, where's that clue? We run a tight ship these days!
I'm so sorry for the delay! I had a lot to do yesterday, so I should have thought before guessing! Here's a new one:

Hint #1:

The name of this perfume refers to a man whose surname is the name of a citrus fruit.
My first thought was "Yuzu Man" by Caron but then...
the Meyer lemon is named after the American explorer Frank Nicholas Meyer who brought samples back from China so maybe it's along those lines?
Perhaps "Meyer Lemon" by Possets or "Meyer Blooms" by Royal Apothic?
Is it cheating to have three goes in one post?

Continue with that first thought... it may lead you to the correct answer!
