I’m thinking cherry blossom, rice water, bamboo & moss. Maybe even a slight aquatic sea note. It just seems like it could make a good spa scent.
Any scents that evoke the landscape of Japan?
Hmm, this is difficult.
After looking at various things, I think there seems to be a gap between "Japanese scents as imagined by people living in Japan" and "scents that evoke Japan from the outside."So when it comes to scents that evoke the Japanese landscape from the outside, I have no knowledge at all. Of course, both are fine to exist. Fragrances are art, after all.
Sakura actually has no scent, so various brands create them, but if I had to say, this one Sakura felt like it was cherry blossom-like.
Rice bran and bamboo are perfume scents that I have never experienced, so I don't know. This perfume Koke Shimizu smelled very mossy.
The ocean is the area I know the least about. I'm not a fan of so-called "marine" scents, so I think other people know more about them.
However, I can introduce "spa-like scents" that are popular in Japan, even if they don't have the scent of the ocean.
Here it is. Spirit of Ayura Eau de Parfum This is a long-selling product.
For me, Satori is the perfect recreation of a Japanese temple with incense burning in a holder. It's discrete and tranquil, the silage seems in keeping with what is acceptable here. I also blind-bought
Città di Kyoto, just out of curiosity. It has the same transient, discrete quality, and there is something that reminds me of the scent of those old homes on the outskirts of Kyoto.
@Akira1005 Yes, finding something that contains at least 2-3 of these has been a challenge. I bought a linen spray in Hawaii that had a bamboo forward note & it was the best smell ever. Thanks for these! I will check them out.
@Raluko111 These sound great! Looking forward to both of these as love the smell of old wood in historic buildings and frankincense is one of my favorite notes.
I should also add Akanesasu , if you want to experience the scent of Japanese spa bath salts.
I would say Un Matin d'Orage Eau de Parfum reminds me of Japan in the rain ✨
