Guerlain Homme EDP Intense

Hey, I'm new to the community and parfumo.

im trying to figure out how to get a submission through, Guerlain Homme EDP Intense.

i keeps getting rejected as it's supposedly already in the database, but the people rejecting just keep linking Guerlain Homme EDP.  My submissions are thorough and include links to the fragrance, but continue to be rejected within minutes of being posted.  Pretty disengaging...

Intense is a discontinued flanker in the Homme line and was released in 2009.  It's unquestionably not the same thing as Guerlain Homme EDP.  I own both.  Nor should it be confused with Guerlain L'homme L'intense (later rebranded to L'homme Intense).

Any help appreciated, I'm just trying to include it in my parfumo collection and thought I would try to get it added to the database.  🤷‍♂️

Hi @Meat, and welcome to parfumo. It certainly took me some time to learn how to submit perfumes the right way, and I'm still learning. It requires quite a bit of evidence.

What sort of links are you including? For your submission, you'll need sources about the fragrance itself and to show it's different to Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum. Since it's disocontinued, I'd suggest maybe looking at the official website using the wayback machine to see if you can find it or searching for old ads. Other fragrance databases aren't usually considered reliable as a single source.

Hi @SilverLily.  So, I linked a YouTube video and then I linked to another well known database.  The irony is the Parfumo listing of Guerlain Homme EDP actually has two photos of the Intense flanker.  The second of which actually  shows the box and the words Eau de Parfum Intense.  That's the stuff.  🤣.

As quickly as the submissions were rejected, I can't imagine they were more than glanced at, TBH.  It's cool though.  I hadn't realized how difficult it would be to get such an obvious fragrance from a renowned house into the database.  I'm not sure I have the level of motivation required to scrape the Internet for more proof of its existence, when proof of its existence separate from Homme EDP is already present in the Homme EDP listing. Lol

Thanks for your help, though.  If I had more free time, I'd possibly make another pass at it.

I'm sure it's discouraging, I think that's just a trade-off for accuracy though.

But yes it doesn't help that perfumes as a product are very ephemeral. Once a brand stops marketing them they're often just gone from everywhere, and there isn't anything like an archive that I'm aware of. It can definitely take a lot of time to find sources in that case.

Oh absolutely, and I'm sure they're inundated with constant duplicates and badly supported entries.    And between all of the flankers flankers across lines, the bottle redesigns, reformulations, discontinuations and often incredible confusing naming conventions, it's a total minefield.   Intense is currently in stock at a discounter and it can be seen right alongside Homme L'eau Boisee, another flanker (L'Eau Boisee is in the database already).  Maybe this weekend I'll take another pass at it.  

I understand that it's disheartening, but I believe that it's necessary for accuracy.
