... Fastor When I first started taking a more serious interest in fragrances and collecting, I made some costly blind buying mistakes. Thankfully I quickly discovered that I could purchase decants to sample. I only rarely blind buy now. There is, however, something quite exciting about experiencing a blind buy for the first time. Have I wasted my money? Have I made a mistake? Can I fool myself into liking this? If I wear it for a month will it grow on me? Of the blind buys in my current collection, these are the ones that I was most pleased with ... "Fico di Amalfi | Acqua di Parma" "Triumph of Bacchus (Eau de Parfum) | Argos" "Pour Monsieur (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" "Paris - Édimbourg | Chanel" "Astor (Cologne) | Geo. F. Trumper" Going back to when I first started buying fragrances, in the 1980s, they were all a blind buy back then. And apart from one, they were all successful. These are pretty nice! Would you buy them again in hindsight? Even if you’d know how they smelled?

... You can tell it’s a bot because it replied to this age old thread. It’s a fun thread though, I read stuff from myself a couple of years ago when I was still a PdM fanboy 🤣 Still, the top lists were a great reference to get into niche a littlebit.

Your opinion about Xerjoff

Perfumes & Brands
... Xerjoff have A LOT. A lot of mainstream stuff, like the "Erba Pura | Xerjoff" and "Accento | Xerjoff", but also a lot of pretty niche stuff which is their best stuff. Check out the K Collection and the K Blue Collection like "'Ilm | Xerjoff" and "Ether | Xerjoff". It’s not what Xerjoff is known for, not a lot of influencers talking about those because yeah they’re niche.

... Aquarius1 I only had one fragrance experience that made me gag. "A*Men Pure Malt | Mugler" was the worst blind buy I ever did. That was a one-way ticket to the garbage bin. Absolutely horrible. I hope it wasn’t too expensive!

... CedarMoon23 Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum is often considered one of the safest blind buys because it is fresh, sophisticated, and works well year-round for nearly any setting . The question was: what’s your best blind buy?

Ribbed glass bottles
Ceesie
|
Perfume Discussions
... CedarMoon23 Ribbed glass bottles are perfume bottles with vertical grooves or fluted glass , giving them a textured, elegant, and often vintage-inspired appearance. The ribbing also improves grip and adds visual depth by reflecting light. Lattafa Khamrah – Fluted glass with a luxurious presentation. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male – The iconic torso bottle features ribbed detailing. Azzaro Wanted – Uses textured glass elements for a bold look. Boucheron Jaipur Homme – A classic bottle with fluted glass styling. Well well thank you for the informative albeit AI-like answer.

... I found out that I’m a sucker for ribbed glass bottles. In my humble collection, I find these the most beautiful bottles of them all. A couple of examples: "Dunhill Edition (Eau de Toilette) | Dunhill" "Moustache (Eau de Parfum) | Rochas" "Narcotic Bohemic | Anomalia" I’m eyeballing "Eau Sauvage Parfum (2017) | Dior" or one of its siblings to buy for the beautiful bottles (and great smell too of course). Do you have any examples of these gems?

... That’s funny, I opened this topic quite some time ago and I realize that the successful blind buy I spoke of is no longer in my collection. I replaced it with other freshies. If I look at my collection right now, it’s quite full of successful blind-buys. I start to get a hang of it probably. My most beloved ones are "Moustache (Eau de Parfum) | Rochas" and "Drakkar Noir (Eau de Toilette) | Guy Laroche" . I bought the tinier bottles in case I wouldn’t like them but they’re so so good now I wish I had the bigger bottles!

... If you can find a place that sells "Divine Vanille | Essential Parfums" , go and have a sniff. If you can stretch it, go with its bigger brother "Herod | Parfums de Marly" , but it’s way more expensive.

Keeping the boxes of your perfumes

Parfumo Community
... I keep the boxes of a lot of my stuff. I'm crazy like that but somehow it gives me the confidence I can sell it more easily later on if I decide to do so. I also keep the boxes of new perfumes now, however I do find that kind of weird. The Xerjoff stuff is pretty awesome so those are keepers, but some of them are just bogstandard cartboard boxes. What do you do with them?

Why is Dior Homme Intense 2025 getting so much hate?

... From what I understood is that the 2025 version is exactly the same as the 2011 version so no I don’t understand the hate. Who’s hating on it?
