How do you use the "Tested" feature?

... I used to only use it for stuff I tested on skin but didn't want to buy, whether disliked or neutral. Since I've been using the logging feature (which automatically marks stuff as tested), I now use it for anything I've worn at all. I also have a separate folder for dislikes, so I can figure out any common themes. If I test something on paper and want to try it on skin eventually, then it goes into my watchlist. (Also this is a very interesting topic, I like hearing about how people organise their collections here)

... Definitely second the recommendation for Pineward, I'm slowly testing my way through their catalog and they're great. "Murkwood | Pineward" is pine and incense (haven't tried this one yet, but looking forward to it). I'm really enjoying "Bindebole | Pineward", which is more green and excellent for spring. "Fanghorn II | Pineward" I found to be quite heavy on the fir balsam, darker and also very nice.

... @StarMajesty They're bumped up higher on my priority list, but I don't have anywhere to test most of them nearby, so I'm waiting until I next order samples. Will report back once I've been able to test at least a few.

... "Woodcut | Olympic Orchids Artisan Perfumes" Not sure if it will have the same effect for you but on me it was right in the middle of woody and gourmand/sweet in a very pleasant way. It does have a bit of a green resin start if that is a deal-breaker for you.

I somehow hadn't come across Tchai in my search, and it does sound perfect.

... I'm kind of on the opposite side of the white floral spectrum from you but I can definitely recommend a few. "Néroli Oranger | Matière Première" I found to be a very clean and faithful recreation of orange blossom. "Olyssia | Sylvaine Delacourte" Light and pretty, also orange blossom focused. More soapy than Néroli Oranger. "Fox in the Flowerbed | Imaginary Authors" Very fresh, dewy jasmine bush (leaves included). "White Tea | Korres" and "Ange ou Démon Le Secret (Eau de Parfum) / Ange ou Étrange Le Secret | Givenchy" If you're okay with some fruit too, both are very pretty and clear.

... @MorganleFay Thank you! I actually just got a little decant of Tea for Two, very excited to test (but not so excited to hunt it down if I like it). I have a mini of Thé Rouge and it's very pretty, but I agree that it is quite light. @Lempi That's perfect, I think I have one of their stores nearby. Will hopefully test it soon.

... @Silverrr Thank you very much for the thoughtful reply. I've never had mate so I'm not entirely sure what it smells like. But it is present in a lot of the perfumes I've liked and might be worth exploring it more seriously. "Fleur de Maté | Versace" and "Torino22 | XerJoff" weren't on my radar at all, I'll try to find somewhere to test them. I've tested "Tea Service | Chasing Scents" and it was nice, more fruity-floral than any tea though, similar to "Summer Peaches by the Tea Room | Strangers Parfumerie" (just in case you were curious about it).

... Hi, so I know there's a lot of tea-related topics, but I have read through them and I hope this will not be too repetitive. Tea is my favourite drink, but I seem to get along quite badly with the note, as it's usually fresher (trying to emulate the brewed beverage, I assume) and goes soapy on my skin. I'm going to keep testing but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for perfumes that emulate the smell of unbrewed tea leaves specifically (so more earthy and herbal rather than fresh)? I'd be happy with some spice, smoke or dust in there as well. For context I mostly drink oolong or assam teas, as well as infusions. Thank you in advance (:

... I'm not typically into animalics so unfortunately I can't give any recommendations on that front. But I will chime in that if you want to try more indie stuff in Europe, ecuacion natural (Spain) and 7scents (Hungary) both carry very interesting lines (including indie/artistic houses). They both do decants/samples online, so might be good for trying. Sorry if you're already familiar with them.

Do you ever blind buy? Or do you always test first?

... I'm sometimes tempted (there really is no other way to find cheapies to test sometimes), but so far I've held strong in my resolution not to blind buy. I am very particular about scents (and headache prone). I did a rough calculation, and of the perfumes I've tested properly on skin over 50% were a definite no. Seems like pretty bad odds. But I can see how it would work for someone who is less picky and/or doesn't have as much access to test in store.
