Sandalwood oils? 0

Has anyone tried plain sandalwood oil?

If so, do you have any favorites or recommendations?

I just received Sandalwood essential oil from bran Deluxia (Karsten International).

Rather weak, subtle, more balsamic than woody. It was probably cheap. Don't really think it fills the room as an aroma. Wouldn't apply it on skin.

I hope this is kind of answer you was expecting. Greets

Oh. Just found another one. CreaScents (Croon Concept) from Action shop I think.

This one is nice, more rich and a bit like a candle. I think I will once try to put in on me as a base for some perfume. Smile

I sometimes make my own diy skincare products and I have tried plain sandalwood essential oil from different brands. That should never be applied directly to skin though, so if you're buying a 100 % essential oil, try mixing it with fragrance free oils or butters, for example jojoba or shea. It's very nice, cosy, pleasant and long lasting.

One thing I've learned working with highly concentrated sandalwood is that at 100% strength it counterintuitively can be more difficult to smell then when diluted to say 10%.  I'm not really sure of the science behind why this happens other than it can overwhelm the senses and you can go nose blind to it almost instantly.

I had bought sandalwood fragrance oil from Perfumers Apprentice and it smelled exceptionally weak compared to most of the other fragrance oils I purchased.  So I did a little Internet research and learned I had to dilute it and amazingly that worked like magic.  Crazy how our nose works.
