Bedtime Fragrances
by VieilleDame1 | Perfume Discussions
...I own a few small partial bottles of Shalimar extrait, so that's what I tend to wear to bed, regardless of the season. I wore my 1978 Shalimar extrait in the flacon amphore just last night.

...MitchcraftManaged to get some photos of what was my grandmother’s perfume L'Aimant (Eau de Toilette)L'Aimant Eau de Toilette now discontinued. Actually, it’s still available (in the bottle in your photo) from online retailers such as Amazon and FragranceNet. I bought a bottle quite recently. 😊

...CocopahDear VieilleDame1,   omg...  I can only dream... thank you! 😍 Please post about the story behind those beautiful Shalimar bottles, how did discover your love for Shalimar and how did these jewels came into your life.Hi Cocopah!Well, I just finished writing you a long reply and it wouldn't send and I've lost all the text, lol! I'll try to recreate it...I used to wear Shalimar back in the early 1990s and always loved its bergamot/leather/powdery/vanilla character. I also used to wear Ombre Rose. In September 2021 I started yearning for the perfume of my youth/young womanhood (I'm 61 now) and I first sought out L'Air du Temps and Chloé (the KL from 1975). I then got the yearning for Shalimar and knew I wanted vintage, so began reading what I could. For resources I used the following:Cleopatra's Boudoir: https://cleopatrasboudoir.blog...https://cleopatrasboudoir.blog...https://guerlainperfumes.blogs...Yesterday's Perfume (Barbara Herman. This blog is no longer active, but can still be accessed):https://www.yesterdaysperfume.... (and her book Scent and Subversion: Decoding A Century of Provocative Perfume)Kafkaesque blog (these links are to an excellent, very long 3-part essay on vintage Shalimar)Part 1: https://kafkaesqueblog.com/201...Part 2: https://kafkaesqueblog.com/201...Part 3: https://kafkaesqueblog.com/201...I have mostly Shalimar EDT from the 1980s. I also have a couple of EDP (current & 2000), a couple of flacon montre EDC (1970s) and three small bottles of extrait. I also have some flankers. I also have an extrait of both L'Heure Bleue and Jicky that date from the 1930s. So yes...I love, love, love Shalimar! 💗However, my collecting has been tinged with anxiety as I really can't afford this as a hobby and I have gotten in over my head, sadly. This is not to say that I don't love what I own, but it did become a problem. Anyway...that's my story. If you want to know more, ask away! 😊

What are your worst performing fragrances?
by VieilleDame1 | Perfumes & Brands
...I recently purchased two Monotheme Venezia fragrances - Verde d'Arancia and Camelia. I love the greenish orange peel aspect of the Vd'A, but once sprayed it's gone in almost a heartbeat. It's so fleeting that re-application several times a day is needed. The Camelia has more longevity, but not a whole lot more, so again, re-spraying is necessary. Thankfully, they were each under $20 for the 100ml bottles, so I don't mind having to re-spray so much, but I will not likely repurchase either. By the way, Camelia is a lovely soft floral, a bit soapy...reminiscent of the classic pink Camay bar soap that my mom used to buy back in the '60s and '70s. A couple of other poor performers are Solinotes Thé Blanc. Love the freshness of it, but "gone in 60 seconds"...at least that's how it seems! EA Green Tea actually lasts a long time on my skin, so that ends up being my go-to summer freshie. And sadly (sort of), vintage Diorissimo EDC 😢. I can't afford the prices for the vintage EDT (though I found a mini of the vintage parfum for a great price!), so I've settled for the EDC. I love the fragrance...the greenness of the lily of the valley is exquisite, even if it is fleeting.

...MitchcraftVieilleDame1I’m afraid I take most of my fragrance photos either on my dusty bookshelf or use my pillow cases as a backdrop 😆. But here are a few recent acquisitions, plus some that I’ve had a while, but tried playing with my iPhone’s photo editing 😁.Hey thank you for sharing!I use T-shirts and all sorts of things for my photos and sometimes a nice pillowcase will work perfectly for a photo. A dusty bookshelf imo shows character and can give a perfume a great photo. Also the main thing of course is that you enjoy the experience so i welcome more dusty bookcase and pillow photos from you please 😃 lolSeriously thank you for sharing 🙂The title for the HUGO photo was "Game Like a Boss - HUGO BOSS" for context. Awww...thank you Mitchcraft! I'll have to remember t-shirts as a canvas 😊! And your photos are cool and stunning!

What do you have on your pizza
by VieilleDame1 | Off Topic
...Along with what DonVanVliet posted about a margherita, I'm all about pepperoni and red onion or sausage and red peppers. I'm definitely "less is more" when it comes to pizza. And not overdoing on the cheese 😁.

What do you have on your pizza

...DonVanVlietI always order Pizza Margherita! Best way to find out if a place makes good pizza 😀Yes! If the most simple (with the fewest toppings) is good, then that's an indicator. And a well made Margherita is that indicator 😉.

...KathrynA66VieilleDame1KathrynA66Okay- let's try this oneThe Sting (1973)We have a winner!!  One of the all time great heist/buddy/1970s films.I was just a little girl, but I developed a huge crush on Robert Redford, which remains to this day. It was a great movie! And won the Oscar® for Best Film that year! The Way We Were came out the same year so Redford was in two great films in 1973.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by VieilleDame1 | Parfumo Community
...Hi everyone/Bonjour tout le monde!I’m Yvonne, another defector from Fragrantica. I’m from the great state of California where I was born and raised and have lived 57 out of my 61 years. I’m a third year PhD student and graduate teaching assistant at the University of California Davis in the French department where I’m about to embark on my dissertation. I’m working with a corpus of fin-de-siècle French advice/etiquette manuals, gastronomy magazines and cooking magazines published for women.I started wearing perfume in high school, but spent 20+ years as a cheese monger (Whole Foods Market), so stopped wearing fragrance. I got back into perfume about two years ago and went a little crazy with collecting. But I love fragrance (especially vintage!!!) and I’m very glad to be here. I look forward to interacting with the Parfumo community! 🥰
