Suggestions for a patchouli-centric fragrance
by Greysolon | Perfume Recommendations
...though, for my tastes, it requires a judicious finger on the trigger to keep its place. Nonetheless, I find it beautiful and wearable.Unfortunately, Triffid is right about my bad experience with "Voleurs de Roses"... ick... but I won't let that keep me from giving other rose and patchouli perfumes a try...

The third Kenzo... Kenzo pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) - Kenzo
by Triffid | Perfumes & Brands
...Those Avon ladies know how to sell a product. And just in case there's any confusion they called it "Aromadisiac For Her". I guess you spray it on first.Or for the gents...He knows where this goes by the look of it..

The third Kenzo... Kenzo pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) - Kenzo
by Triffid | Perfumes & Brands
...I was beginning to feel so disrespectful and dirty after your explanation of the Kenzo bottle design but then came..."Full Choke" (splutter) By god, that will be hard to beat!Fortunately Pierre Cardin is (was?) a bit of an old sleaze and thoughtfully provided variations of this flacon for both genders to enjoy.

Correlations between perfume and shoes
by Triffid | Perfumes & Brands
...I'm not a shoe person at all, or at least not someone who covets designer heels. I do love a good boot but it's more likely to be a Doc Martens or something funky and practical. I have to wear boots for work every day (more Blundstone than Manolo) so maybe I've just given up on trying to walk in anything dainty. And I like being able to bounce around, not teeter. Also a good thong is hard to beat (that's flip flops to the rest of the world and jandals for you Kiwis). As Pipette said, you can wear perfume regardless of your attire but shoes are problematic. They go our of fashion, they have to fit properly (I have different sized feet, dammit) and they have to be appropriate to the occasion and outfit. The same could be said of perfume but I find it so much more enjoyable to build a wardrobe of scents rather than shoes. My "other" collection is silver jewellery and turquoise so I'm definitely not immune to self adornment!

Guess that scent. A game:
by Triffid | Parfumo Community
...I'm afraid not, Greysolon, although there is a link between Youth Dew (last picture) and the perfume in question. The first picture is a clue to the name of the perfume. As no one is likely to recognise him, the second clue is a link to the guy in the first picture (hint: look at Michelle Obama). The third pic is a hint as to the year of release. The fourth and fifth pics are hints regarding the perfumer (now that's given it away!)The latest pic is a not-so-subtle brand hint - nail polish was their first product and this was their first perfume.

The third Kenzo... Kenzo pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) - Kenzo
by Triffid | Perfumes & Brands
...I can't help with the original query but couldn't help noticing (and commenting obviously) on how phallic those bottles are: the shape, the curve, the cap, the texture on the original. The new plastic one is indeed a poor substitute, rather like some kind of prosthesis (but commendably large).

...do. It looks a classy site, thanks for the feedback Triffid. I think you're right, it isn't fakes that are the problem here but the ever smaller materials budget that each progressive reformulation is squeezed...

...Could we be referring to the offerings from Ravenscourt Apothecary with suitably old fashioned and literary names for their perfumes.1. Vanity portrait = "Dorian Gray"2. Husband of attic lunatic = "Mr Rochester" 3. Lustful governess = "jane Eyre"4. Green Gables girl = "Anne Of Avonlea"5. Wonderland visitor = "Alice"6. Snotty, rich dude = "Mr Darcy"7. Pemberley mistress = "Elizabeth Bennet"

Which fragrance would Mr. President wear?
by Triffid | Parfumo Community
...Ooh, it would be difficult to find a fragrance that truly reflects my opinion of our current Australian Prime Minister. This is not something I imagine he would actually wear but it does suggest an appropriately regressive and sub-human demeanour: "Creature" by Kerosene (ironically, an ex-party Health Minister aka "Kerosene Bronnie", and now current speaker of the House of Representatives, was embroiled in a nursing home scandal involving same).

...I was also going to suggest Raiders of the Lost Scent. I've bought Calandre from an online discounter here in Australia and there's no doubt that reformulation has weakened the scent. Interestingly, I wore Calandre during the 80s and I never thought it smelled as much like Rive Gauche back then as it does now (my sister wore the latter). Likely my faulty memory, though. To be honest, I wonder how much of a market there would be for fake Calandre? Bar codes were introduced in 1990 so your bottle is no earlier than that.

Suggestions for a fragrance with geranium? Geranium pour Monsieur - Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle
...I love geranium too. My absolute favorite is "Geranium Bourbon" by Miller Harris. This is a luscious, addictive, but very rosy fragrance - you really need to love rose for this one, although the geranium is also very pronounced. Again partnering geranium with rose, is "Aoud Roses Petals" by Montale. The geranium is most obvious when compared to other rose/ouds in the line that don't feature geranium, such as Aoud Queen Roses. I could name other geranium/rose combos but I suspect that's not the style you're looking for. My other favorite is "Rive Gauche pour Homme (2003)" by YSL which partners geranium with subtle anise and other aromatic notes - a far more appealing combination than it looks on paper.

Blind Buys - Are you a risk taker? Best + Worst Experiences
by Triffid | Perfumes & Brands
...What disappointment, WildGardener. I mean, the Cerruti experience might not have been so bad if the perfume could have been repurposed as an actual drain cleaner. Useful, at least.I read as many reviews as I can before purchase, so at least I have some idea of what to expect but it sounds like you're in another gambling league altogether: a blind buying, bargain bin foraging, discount chemist hunter. This is the kind of bravery and optimism that fuelled the great explorations of history and founded ancestral kingdoms!
