Which languages do you speak?
by Modernista | Off Topic
...Mother tongue Swedish, mother tongue standard English (which helps as I work with translating legal documents), read and understand most Danish and Norwegian, studied French, Spanish and Latin but alas nowhere near fluency in any of them, nor in Italian, but I'd love to be, as well as in other languages.

Warning Signs
by Modernista | Off Topic
...So sorry to hear of your health scare, but happy that you're recovering well!  Thank you for posting these warning signs as well, I knew they were different for women than for men, but not the exact ones, only that they can be more varied for women.  Hope you continue to improve swiftly!

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Modernista | Parfumo Community
...LempiOh gosh, I don't get it... Why they want to make everything a political statement now? Seems like fragrances are not the priority anymore, it's the owners' political agenda... Sigh ðŸ™„ It only gets worse and worse. I would have tolerated it if all the discussion about it would be moderated properly and only respectful factual conversation without namecalling, conspiracy theories etc. would be allowed but no, they just remove all those comments they disagree with and leave all hate speech comments. That's their version of "free speech", it's just pathetic. But well, it's their site, they are "free to choose". And I'm also free to choose Parfumo.Agree, completely.  It's also rather worrying that they don't know the definition of hate speech, but have interpreted it as 'speech you hate', i.e. that those who disagree with them hate that that they speak!  The literal ignorance is rather astounding.

What do you have on your pizza
by Modernista | Off Topic
...I love mushrooms on a pizza!  Also peppers, prawns and lots of things.  Anchovies however, along with mayonnaise and a host of other things are just a massive NO! from me (they belong to what I term 'wobbly foods' which are just hideous), but I'll have pineapple on if it's a share and have to be polite.  Just be grateful you don't have to suffer 'the kebab pizza' or, possibly even worse, the banana and curry combo.

Are there any other Swifties on here?
by Modernista | Off Topic
...Me!  Although a very, very minor one - I don't even have all her albums, but in particular love Folklore and Evermore.

What do you think of Zara, Dua, et al?
by Modernista | Perfumes & Brands
...Hi, So far, I don't have any Duas, although there are several I'm hoping to get. Nor any Alexandrias, or Jenny Glows. Zara, however, I have a plentiful supply of, and really enjoy those I have, e.g. Sacred Green ForestSacred Green Forest , "#Tobacco Collection - Rich/Warm/Addictive | Zara" , Zara Emotions N°03 - Ebony Wood (Eau de Parfum)Zara Emotions N°03 - Ebony Wood Eau de Parfum , OsmanthusOsmanthus and several others. In addition, I picked up both Zara Exclusive N°04 - Leather JardinZara Exclusive N°04 - Leather Jardin and Captivating Memories - Unexpected JoyCaptivating Memories - Unexpected Joy (both Jo Malone) today in the sales. Unexpected Joy is a complete blind buy and I've not even tested it yet, but Leather Jardin's been on my wishlist for some time. The leather's excellent although slightly more tannery than what I normally go for, but I do enjoy it in a similar way to the several Cabochard (1959) (Parfum)Cabochard (1959) Parfum I love, as well as Jolie Madame (Eau de Toilette)Jolie Madame Eau de Toilette . While a lot of them are perhaps a bit 'throw-away', they do have some fantastic stuff for the price.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Modernista | Parfumo Community
...ArcencielMeadhbhJust left due to an article about a Pride perfume blowing up with some really awful commentsSame here! (formerly curiouscats) It looks like there are quite a few of us. Hopefully there are many more to come!My comments supporting Patric and other LGBTQ+ folks kept getting deleted by the mods. Yet the despicable vitriol kept getting posted. Unfortunately for Patric, they took down his article sometime this morning. If it wasn't for TranceNdendalist over there mentioning Parfumo in a comment in the Pride article, I would've never known to come here.I'm still in the process of transferring everything over but I already prefer Parfumo's interface. Parfumo seems like a much more welcoming place too. I'm happy to see Non-Binary as a Gender option. AND there's explicit anti-discrimination language in the Community Rules specifically including sexuality and gender. Before the article was removed, there were several more supportive comments, which were then obviously removed, including one I wrote about how it must look, from an employment law perspective, and that I'd quite like to read a managing editor/owner's statement of defence regarding both condoning bullying and abuse as well as indulging in this themselves.  Most oddly, they decided to remove that one!
