...Maison Alhambra, which is generally accepted as one of the better AS dupes out there. It has the apple pie, the cognac, the strong oak barrels... which Nocturnal Life is missing btw, the oak that is. 2. Fragrances with no information
by Enframing | Perfumes & Brands
...JMF is no longer made. I like the fragrance a lot, classic "barber shop" fougère type fragrance. Definitely has lavender, coumarin/vanilla, and oak moss notes to my nose, but also has a spicy note; I get some cumin for sure...an acceptable amount, as I'm not a big fan of cumin heavy fragrances. I...

Misterious Perfume, some help please?
...Hello guys!I have a description of a perfume's botttle of my mother. I really would like to find it and give it to her for christmas. So, I know It's going to be difficult but I have to try, here we go:1. The bottle is yellow and cilindric with the base a bit bigger (like a cone, kind of)2. She also says is opaque, is yellow but not for the color of the perfume but the bottle itself3. The bottle cap had a yellow shappire (a fake one of course) in the top, in vertical (this is very rare, but I can't find anything like that).4. She remerbers the bottle from when she was little, so the perfume has to be from the 70's or earlier5. Another clue, the perfume was brought from Brazil to Spain (I don't know if this is usefull, but just in case...)6. It wasn't a handmade one or something like that, my mum says it was a very expensive perfume for the epoque And I don't have more information...If you could help, it will be awesomeThank you!

...you're in for something different because Creosote fairly shouts from the heart. On skin, you're in a cabin on the plains of Texas surrounded by oak, pine, bushes, sand and herbs. If you long for the Texas outdoors, this scent will take you there. You just have to get used to the tarry-comforting...

Chanel's Les Exclusifs reformulation
by Oriane | Perfumes & Brands
...but aside from the top notes, it does not seem very chypre-like to my nose. The patchouli is not a successful replacement for oak moss in my opinion. A high quality synthetic oak moss would be better than the patchouli-laudamum base in 31 RC. My advice to anyone contemplating purchasing any of the Les...

...recommend a blind buy."Ballets Rouges"Sadly, on my skin, this potentially fantastic chypre, which actually contains the full chyre accord (bergamot, oak moss, labdanum) produces a note that for me is close to vinegary. My guess is the labdanum, ordinarily resinous and sultry, is doing something it...

...fields of hay. A tinge of grapefruit in the top keeps it from being too heavy, as does vetiver in the heart. Tobacco lends a bit of smokiness and oak moss makes is mossy, though this is not an actual chypre [which is bergamot-oakmoss-labdanum]. Another admirable perfume from this house."Vanille...

Chypre at the Osmothèque
...the most celebrated of his creations is Chypre, the perfume that started a new genre. We all know the formula is based on bergamot, labdanum and oak moss, and is reputed to be in the style of the perfume which first came from the island of Cyprus many years before.Without going into the details of... profile in an overtly oriental direction, and again for powdery effect. It is evident that the trajectory of the profile moves towards labdanum and oak moss - not an enticing prospect with all those heavy bitter resinous notes. From the drydown on the touche, which is now several weeks old, there...
