Ambitiousless
The beautiful bottle, next to it the still bubbling cauldron with the potion inside. It steams, it smokes, it... some would say it even stinks a bit.
The wizard has already poured the brew into the bottle. Now he just needs to seal it, and then it’s done: a potion that doesn’t need to be drunk but is sprayed on to achieve its effect. The wizard has tinkered with his formula for a long time, tried and discarded many versions, and now he believes his potion is perfect. A potion that would give its user energy, motivation, and the will to achieve their goals.
He takes this thing that is supposed to be a potion but is used like a perfume and sprays it on his neck.
He is startled.
'Oh no, not another failure!' he thinks. Completely dejected, he stands there. The green, bitter vetiver and the scratchy-dry incense spread out, but they have nothing noble about them and ignite no drive in him. Where have the warming musk and amber gone that he had actually added? He can’t even detect cinnamon, ginger, or leather. The little bit of clove has become so weak that it’s hardly noticeable.
So the completely disappointed and now also completely unambitious wizard sits down and lets his shoulders drop.
Another day, another failed attempt.
---
Even Wisdom was not the ultimate wisdom, and Ambition is even less so. A lot of green and a lot of smoke, but not successfully blended. It bothers, it does not please (me). The fragrance lacks warmth significantly; a bit of sweetness would have done it good (there’s a reason why incense and vanilla are often combined). The pyramid promises much but disappoints.
It can be worn for serious occasions and possibly also for dates; otherwise, I see no great purpose.
The sillage is okay (2¾ hours of solid projection) and longevity (just under 5½ hours lasting). The price is completely reasonable for that.
One can only wish the wizard much success. Maybe it will work out next time.
