Very confusing fragrance
Let me get started by mentioning this is the first time I wear this fragrance so perhaps I'll come back and edit this comment entirely but here it goes.

The reason why this fragrance is confusing to me starts with the notes, a summery salty fragrance with myrrh and oud? that sounds daring an challenging, even the reviews go from one side of the spectrum to the other.
When I received the fragrance I couldn't wait anymore so I sprayed on a paper strip and the opening was strong, the oud was borderline funky and the myrrh was intense but after a few minutes it changed completely and what was left was a slightly salty citrusy white floral leaning heavily into unisex and even a bit more feminine. After a while I sprayed in my wrist and the result was different, the oud was on the backseat with the myrrh providing a slightly resinous backbone to a slightly salty citrus white floral, very nice. Today I'm fully wearing and the result is different, very similar to what I experienced on the wrist but the oud and myrrh are just as prominent so it is a very interesting fragrance but not something I'd consider for a summer day or the beach.

Have you tried Zaharoff signature? the way the oud plays in with that fougere providing warmth and strength, it feels similar here but with a fresh fragrance.

I'm probably going to change my mind as time goes by but so far this is what I get out of Shelter Island. Don't blind buy as I did

A Gentle Breeze for a Fortune
Since I never tire of making it clear to this community that Bond No. 9 also has great, worthwhile perfumes, I definitely wanted to be among the first testers and commentators of the new Shelter Island. Because even a first sniff in the store made the anticipation grow and clearly placed the scent more in the good corner of a Fire Island than in the mediocre one of a Montauk.

It smells like Kenzo Pour Homme crossed with the sinfully expensive golden Bond No. 9 Signature EdP - well, first thoughts are rarely misleading and always contain at least a good piece of truth. However, Shelter Island is of course higher quality than the Kenzo classic and a bit more casual than its golden brother.

When I smell Shelter Island, I imagine standing on a beach in late summer, which, like now, wants to be called autumn. Salt comes towards you from the sea, the wind is not to be underestimated, it is actually quite uncomfortable. But still, I feel good. I am in perfect health, perhaps with my girlfriend in my arms, enjoying the fresh, cool sea air. It is damp and cold, yet you are dressed warmly enough, your defenses are strong enough that you can enjoy the moment and the forces of nature - without thoughts of cold, colds, and other worries. The sky is gray, the sand is the same, the sea is deep blue. Somewhere near the beach, there is supposed to be a forest full of agarwood trees, whose presence you feel minimally, but which never frightens you (--> one of the gentlest and most beautiful oud notes ever in an aquatic!). Montauk and Fire Island are bright beach scents, Sag Harbour is a bit closer to the harbor, Shelter Island is a perfect North Sea trip outside the holiday season. Whether it is dream, reality, or faded memory - a very pleasant scent, better and more mature than 3 other Bond No. 9 fragrances (let's say Wall Street, Sag Harbour, and Montauk)... if it weren't for the high price of almost 300€, it would be an unrestricted purchase recommendation and one of the better releases of the year! My tip: also very magically elegant in a dark suit, in a wild-aquatic way! Overall, it is actually almost more woody than aquatic, a mix of pencil, oud, and wet sea sand.

Bottle: a true sailor - stylish but unobtrusive.
Sillage: for me, really a very gentle, skin-close, dark but not unpleasant breeze. A bit too tame for me.
Longevity: 5-7 hours

For me, it is already a success to test a dark aquatic with ALGAE in the fragrance pyramid that I do not completely despise. I actually like this one quite a lot, even though I would still slightly prefer Kenzo PH and the price is outrageous. I have no more points of criticism, but with the greatest will!

Beautiful fresh aquatic with wood, floral freshness, and oud
Bond No.9 is a brand that I really think is great. The prices are indeed extremely steep and overpriced, but the fragrances are usually very solid and good. I definitely wanted to test this one, as a big fan of aquatics, I also like to try higher-priced aquatics. I bought a small decant. The price for 100ml is around 200 Euros.

First of all, a compliment to the Bond bottles. For me, they are among the best bottles out there. The typical shape that they all have is simply original and a great trademark. Additionally, there’s a stylish design that doesn’t look cheap. Very good patterns and color combinations are included. Here it’s rather unspectacular, but fitting for a more aquatic scent.
The fragrance smells very high-quality and pleasantly fresh from the very first second. The aquatic note totally reminds me of Kenzo Homme, but it’s not exactly a fragrance twin as it has other nuances. Dividing this scent into top, heart, and base notes isn’t quite right here. Only the gentle base comes through well at the end; otherwise, there’s little development. That’s not dramatic if the scent is convincing, and it is.
I perceive the algae very little; if anything, they are more in the background. As mentioned: The aquatic note leans towards Kenzo Homme. These two are quite similar in scent type and have a similar vibe. However, if you smell closely and concentrate, you can recognize many other fragrance notes. Especially a pleasant floral freshness and an extraordinary oud note. Extraordinary because oud combined with fresh aquatic notes is already very extravagant. I’m not an oud fan, but here it harmonizes perfectly and doesn’t feel heavy. There’s also a citrusy freshness, and the fresh-floral oud aquatic is complete. In the base, it fades softly with musk, amber, and especially a gentle woody note. Great!
Overall, a wonderful harmonious creation for sporty and summery activities. It’s versatile since it will certainly win many sympathies. I’ve already tested it during sports. It’s easy to wear, but for me, it’s more of a casual scent.
The performance is okay for a fresh scent. There are cheaper ones that are significantly better in this category, but it is satisfactory. The sillage is quite pleasant and well dosed. The longevity should be around 6 hours. I fully agree that it’s unisex.

Overall, for me, it’s a good release. I only give a conditional recommendation to buy, as it is quite expensive. However, it’s worth considering since it has style and is really original. Especially fans of Kenzo Homme should test this.

Not to be confused..
..with Shutter Island, a top-notch film with di Caprio. Because Shelter Island is anything but thrilling or brutal. They do have one thing in common: excellence!
My motivation to test Bond fragrances was never particularly high due to the overwhelming quantity and the unreasonable price, and over time it completely dwindled. I could never quite understand why most of the fragrances in the line are only available in 100ml bottles!? Who needs such a large amount, especially when they usually last quite well???! If there were consistently 50ml options, the fragrances would probably be more widespread in collections.
Due to the great rating (to my knowledge the highest for a Bond fragrance!?) I became aware of Shelter Island, also because it is said to be an aquatic scent!
Yes, I can confirm that, but the Bond sea freshness presents itself here in a very unique way. Not the North Sea-like spray and algae freshness of Salina, not the beach feeling (including sunscreen) of Fire Island, and nothing Mediterranean from the Cote d'Azur...for me, it conjures images of a noble sailing yacht with bright white sails, high-quality wooden planks with a slight striped pattern, people in white linen clothes holding a glass of champagne, the conversations and sounds are muted, only moderate wave action, with tourism nowhere in sight, not even the harbor snob of Cannes or St. Tropez, no Camp David or La Martina wearers...just label-free elegance...effortless and unpretentious.
Time and again, a sweetly fresh, slightly aquatic scent wafts over the deck, fresh in the sense of ethereal-noble, like when you enter a high-quality wellness spa oasis in a luxury hotel...this highly pleasant "ahhhh-deep-breathing effect," where you immediately feel a delightful shiver and your mood lifts instantly.
I can also detect something floral, like those flowers and blossoms that love to float in bowls of water in the entrance area of a wellness oasis or are used in steam grottos.
The oud is at most hinted at, it plays no significant role in Shelter Island, but it rounds off the scent pleasantly and deeply, providing contrast and serving as support for the normally quickly fading fresh scents! Shelter Island feels very multifaceted without being able to describe it properly; it is anything but monotonous and has a long-lasting presence of more than 7 hours. I would describe the sillage as slightly above average, making it ideal for the office. At times, it also reminds me of Blamage by Nasomatto, but Shelter Island is thankfully not as piercing!
In the base, Shelter Island does offer a nice subtle sunscreen note...perfect!
Such a scent has been missing from my collection, and I hope it can soon find a place with me...or rather, it can...because €260 or €200 online is quite steep! Especially since I don't need 100ml, the performance is just too good!

Every Year Again
I love it. For me, it is summer in a bottle. Next to all the Ambroxan/Iso bombs that come our way every day, this one is a true exotic and my tip for anyone who asks me for a perfect summer fragrance.

This aquat has a special oriental twist with its oud, which speaks volumes for it. The sweet lily comes through strongly and is complemented by soft musk, rounded off with oud and sandalwood. It remains very linear, which is not a bad thing at all, because it is simply a dream.
At 30 degrees, when you really don't want to wear a fragrance, this one is just right. Its longevity and projection are not too strong, just perfect for such hot days. It has such a looseness and lightness that you quickly forget you even applied anything. Rather, you feel this aura that constantly wafts over your skin and into your nose like a breeze.

After swimming, you come out of the sea, walk over the warm sandy beach, and lie down on your sunbed. A breeze blows over your still wet skin. You rub yourself with sunscreen, take a sip of your cocktail, close your eyes, relax, and enjoy this beautiful summer day. - That is the image this fragrance gives me while wearing it.

Mild oud with almost intoxicating lily, delicately spiced up with salty aquatic notes. Absolutely remarkable!

Screechy synth oud opening to pleasant salty, floral, myrhh mid back to screechy dry down. Unfortunate, the middle bit was kinda nice.

The old beach chair creaks. The waves devour the last sandcastle. End of the season. Homecoming of wild tranquility. The beach has regained its life.

More white than blue,
more woman than man
For me, not a good catch.
Comes very soft-floral,
no association with the sea.

Freshly shaved, he stomps from his yacht into the quaint harbor pub with the old wooden tables, feeling out of place.
