Truly unusual amber
Truly unusual amber. I don't know if this is Asian-inspired, but it has a very Japanese aesthetic, from the steaming green tea ceremony to the soft, transluscent shoji doors. I get a wisp of smoky incense, sauna-like hinoki wood, and unburnt resins. A feather brushstroke of saffron. Extremely restrained but also very "zen," like a carefully curated garden with not a blade out of place. Pensive, disciplined, but fully organic. At first, I just wore it to work and all this nuance was lost in a sterile office. Didn't project much. Honestly, forgot I was wearing it. Now, relaxing in the evening at home listening to some Still Corners and chilling out, I have reapplied and this garden comes alive.
Ordinarily, ambers are opulent, excessive, brooding, or heavy-lidded ready for breeding. Not this one. Never smelled an "amber" quite like it.
