Reflection Man is one of my absolute favorite scents. It was with this fragrance that my journey into perfumes began. I first smelled it as a young teenager while strolling in the city center and fell in love immediately.
Back then, I unfortunately didn't remember the name of this scent. Sad but true.
And so I spent several years searching.
Five years and about 80 bottles later, I rediscovered it. The price of €230 was quite a bit for me as an apprentice living away from home, but my passion ultimately convinced me.
In the meantime, I also own a vintage version of Reflection Man, so it’s easy for me to compare The Run Way with both versions.
The top note is amazing. Personally, I can’t detect any difference at all. 10/10 points
The drydown does deviate slightly from the original. Reflection Man has more of a woody/metallic undertone to the floral-sweet main accord, while The Run Way has more of a green/woody background. However, without a direct comparison, one would hardly notice any differences. 9/10
In the base, Reflection Man becomes more and more woody and loses its sweetness. The Run Way, on the other hand, remains floral-sweet until the end and thus differs much less in the base compared to the heart note than is the case with Reflection Man.
Longevity is slightly better than the current version but about 1-1.5 hours weaker than the vintage Reflection Man.
Sillage is quite decent and on par with the vintage version. The current one cannot keep up in this regard.
What actually makes a good "clone"?
1. As strong a similarity to the original as possible...check!
2. Equal or better performance...check!
3. Cheaper...check! (55€/60ml)
4. For me the most important: Evoke the same emotions...and damn yes, it can do that!
