Not only a Christmas Marshmallow
Guimauve de Noël is a fragrance profile familiar to many of us by now. Similar to Sintra and Love Dont Be Shy, Guimauve offers a prominent and alluring sugared orange blossom. It is pure, simple, beautiful.

Contrary to its name (translated to Christmas marshmallow), Guimauve de Noel is a joy to wear in spring and summer. And while the notes are traditionally feminine I find the fragrance alluring on more masculine wearers. If you’re a fan of orange blossom dominant fragrances give this one a try!

The Essence of Prada Candy Kiss
Hello my dear perfume friends,

today there’s of course another door to open in the perfume advent calendar, and today I want to introduce you to this wonderful, rather unknown fragrance: Guimauve de Noël/31. The number, by the way, indicates how many fragrance modifications were necessary until this scent, as it is now, was created.

I became aware of this great brand through one of my favorite perfume critics, bloggers, and YouTubers: Persolaise. An extremely eloquent, charismatic individual of Polish-Iranian descent, combined with English charm and a journalistic-analytical finesse, once presented this incredibly interesting, young Parisian brand, founded by none other than Michel Almairac and his sons. I’m sure you know Monsieur Almairac from classics like Cašmir, Joop! Homme, or the popular Chloé Eau de Parfum.

The sample order on the company’s own website went very smoothly. You can choose 6 samples from all the fragrances in the range under the category > Discovery Sets > Do It Yourself, which currently includes 15 perfumes. And the best part: instead of the 6 ordered, I received 8 samples, no duplicates, along with a handwritten card and a personal greeting. That’s how testing should be! And even before the scents could convince me olfactorily, I was already head over heels for this charming brand.

In Guimauve de Noël, alongside Totally White, which I immediately ordered in a large bottle after testing, I found a second favorite from the brand. A fragrance that doesn’t need much to smell good. Orange blossom and vanilla sugar, that’s it. A scent for true sweet tooths. The orange blossom appears absolutely non-sticky, fruity, and bright, while the vanilla sugar lightly dusts over it, pleasantly sweet. The composition feels straightforward, clear, without much development. Absolutely high quality and extremely long-lasting. The scent appears intense, yet in no way artificially amplified or synthetic. A small spritz, which I prefer to apply in the evening or before going to bed, is enough for me to perceive the wonderful scent more than clearly, and it indeed lasts until the next day. On clothing, it even clings better.

All compositions from the brand are characterized by this straightforwardness and clarity. They are not overloaded, artfully composed fragrances. They smell exactly like what is indicated, and in a quality and naturalness that is almost frighteningly good and that one would wish for from many other niche fragrances.

I warmly recommend all fans of Prada Candy Kiss to test the Christmas marshmallow scent, as Guimauve de Noël translates to, because this fragrance is practically the essence of the candy kiss.
For my part, I enjoy every spritz from the test tube, and I’m sure I will invest in a large bottle when the scent runs out, and I’m already very much looking forward to when I can travel to Paris again in the near future and hopefully visit one of the boutiques of Parle moi de Parfum.

Thank you for reading,

Your Flaconesse

Mature Chypre Scent Melts Under "Gourmand"
Strange that a fragrance categorized as "Gourmand-sweet" can touch me so deeply. Since I am a slightly eccentric Chypre lover (the "older and stranger," the better) and also enjoy rich vetiver and dark incense scents, it’s all the more peculiar.
In "Guimauve de Noel/31," only orange blossom and vanilla sugar are listed, and perhaps it is this special combination of fragrance notes that triggers such a reaction in me.
For me, there is nothing to smell of "marshmallow," but rather a pure, simple endless expanse, as if I were flying from a dark, icy night toward the orange-red sunrise.
Across all time zones, always heading toward the awakening day.
The fragrance has no glamorous heaviness that many other vanilla scents possess; no, it is floating, transparent, almost ethereal, and yet millions of fragrance molecules reach my nose.
And for me, the perfume has nothing to do with Christmas.
Rather, it is a greeting from a friendly, bright, enveloping world.....

First I was like: this is a clone of Althaïr. But it’s vice versa! This one was first!

Smells like a fresher, more complex, slightly less sweet version of Dolce&Gabbana Devotion. Comforting and gentle orange blossom syrup.

It really captures a children's birthday party. The APOM orange blossom meets vanilla sugar. A bit too sweet for my nose, but nicely done.

Light and airy orange blossom cream flavored with vanilla sugar. More of a children's birthday than Christmas, but it's somehow fun.

Citrusy sweet orange blossom with a hint of resin, as if the sugar is caramelized. I like it, I keep sniffing it. Me and gourmand?

The sun shines when the orange blossoms open. Powdered sugar falls from vanilla clouds into orange juice. Sweet temptation for a good mood.

Sweet like cookie dough. You can smell the orange blossom if you know it, but it gets lost in the sticky haze. For candy lovers.

A cheerful sweet marshmallow scent, warm with a light pleasantly bitter neroli note.
The progression is relatively linear. A feel-good fragrance!

An interesting tension between clean freshness and sweet, syrupy orange blossom on a vanilla base.
Reminds me of a delicious dessert.
