Possibly best in class...of a difficult class
Juniper Sling by Penhaligon’s is great, but the lasting power leaves something to be desired. Infusion by Bombay Sapphire (created by perfumer Geza Schoen) smells astonishingly like a gin and tonic, but it is linear and difficult to find outside of eBay. I think that Gin & Tonic by Art de Parfum is the best in class because, thanks to its extrait-strength composition, it manfully sustains its fresh gin and tonic effect over the course of a good 6 hours.

Beyond matters of structure, it’s also very good: the fresh, bitter topnotes of juniper and lime sparkle as expected, but there is a cool cucumber water effect underneath that softens the angular woodiness of the aromatics. A clean, salty musk follows – mostly Ambroxan – but it feels natural and relaxed, not chemically appointed

The gin makes the gin and tonic, but
... I love classic gin. From some gin tastings, I know that countless varieties now exist, in which the juniper is tamed or even exaggerated by all sorts of botanicals. For my taste, however, there can never be enough juniper note. By the way, I don't care for cucumbers in gin and tonic at all. However, I do appreciate good tonic water quite a bit.
The Gin and Tonic Cologne is a light summer fragrance that does not present any heaviness and unfortunately also lacks a strong needle-woody juniper aroma.
It is evidently dedicated to the modern gin and tonic found in the hipster bars of the metropolises.
An interesting composition, but I already said, I prefer the classic and the juniper note could have been more pronounced. Yes, it even must be, to truly excite me.
The scent becomes increasingly tame towards the end, but is certainly multi-layered. I don't pick out all the notes,
Cedar yes, albeit restrained. Frankincense yes and well restrained for this fresh scent. Juniper yes, I would need more of that.
If I were to wear something in this direction, it would probably be the Juniper Sling. Those who prefer it fresher, more modern, and milder should definitely take a whiff of the Gin and Tonic Cologne.

The Scent Test Experience
Prof. Dr. whatever Meggi cursed as he sipped on a gin and tonic. His idiotic nephew had bought the stuff pre-mixed. Bah! When he went to a bar, he would first tell the bartender that he would order a 'gin and tonic' (to avoid looking too foolish), but only wanted the gin.

Actually, he could start writing now. His nephew was staring blankly ahead and barely reacting to calls; nothing was going to happen today with him. At least - one had to give him credit - the boy had foreseen this. A few years ago, he had already gotten dizzy from cheese fondue* and the continuation of his near-total abstinence since then had evidently not increased his alcohol tolerance.

Thus, the poor guy had faced a dilemma when it came to writing a comment on a perfume called “Gin and Tonic Cologne.” How was that supposed to work without knowing the underlying drink? Getting to know it would likely lead to a quick knockout. So, he had asked his steel-throated and calloused-adventurer uncle for help. Not only could he keep an eye on him once the comparative sips took effect, but he would also personally take up the pen if necessary. Well, both of those things had now come to pass.

First, he took a look at his nephew's notes: “Juniper already in the opening, pink pepper would fit too.” That was good to read. Likewise, “After a few seconds, juniper is stronger. Grapefruit is pronounced. The mention of ‘lemon peel’ as an explanation for the prickly-synthetic note cleverly conceals the chemical content at first.”

In the following paragraph, the writing became more frantic: “Drink illusion created by juniper and grapefruit and - see above - something watery-refreshing from the lab. Helional? Overall, a restrained-skilled contribution from chemistry, probably just right for the desired scent impression…”

The last sentence probably read: “Probably vetiver will save the grapefruit freshness over … time …?” With those words, the pen had slipped from his hand, the trailing syllables had even slid down the page, beyond its edge.

And now? What else should he write? The scent on his wrist smelled similar to that from the glass, just less spirited over time - all breathed away, heh heh… In any case, one could find the name of the fragrance in the scent, however they had managed to achieve that in detail. The corresponding idea was already on the paper.

Maybe he would just write exactly that and conclude with: “A surprisingly mild juniper-grapefruit scent at its core, with a beautifully executed illusion of alcohol. Straightforward, fresh, and unremarkable. Theme hit.”

He vaguely remembered smelling a perfume with similar moist gastronomy provenance years ago: Juniper Sling by Penhaligon’s - also named after a gin-based mixed drink. He had liked that less; if he recalled correctly, it had become too watery too quickly. This present colleague did a bit better, maintaining the drink association well into the fifth hour before it became increasingly synthetic and flabby. And at a lower price, which could still be considered sporty.

Yeah, it read quite well. That could stay as it was. Now quickly down the next glasses of this pathetic mix, or else today wouldn’t work out with a decent buzz.

It's pleasantly green-juniper, developing more spice over time; stays nice and leans towards masculine; nice.

First cheap bitter lemon, then briefly rye bread, followed by herbal notes, and then it fades out like any clean musk note.

Unfortunately, this scent shook me and didn't stir me.
The juniper note completely ruined the parsley for me.

Citrus-fruit-tinged shallow gin and tonic that lacks any naturalness. Really terrible.

Through this cucumber-chemical aquatic twist, but actually a dry-fresh citrus juniper. Sweet resinous-woody light green. Clean!

After a maximum of 10 minutes, it smells just like a good gin and tonic tastes.

Not a gin and tonic, but juniper berries with grapefruit smell really damn good. The scent doesn't change much (cardamom joins in)...

I smell the juniper opening and get the most bergamot out of it, and in an unprecedented intensity. Beautiful!

Bittersweet, zesty, wonderfully refreshing extrait! (NOT Cologne!)
Creamy-woody base. Enchantingly beautiful, but very delicate!

Gin and tonic, beautifully captured in a fragrance. A great refreshment for hot days, casual and simply wonderful to wear!
