Thinking of summer

Having passed the winter solstice and with one eye on the impending arrival of more agreeable weather, my mind wandered towards colognes. To mark this momentous change in view, yesterday’s arrival underlined my eagerness to enjoy the warmth. I have several colognes like Chanel’s Eau de Cologne or my beloved Guerlain Cologne du 68 (which I have two bottles of just because it’s amazing). I wanted a different take on the genre. Enter Astier du Villates Grand Chalet!! It’s a cologne yes, but not your normal citrus forward. It’s actually an exploration of floral colognes, specifically linden blossom and it presents its self as a light cozy warm glow of summer! I’m looking forward to be able to take her for a spin as the weather turns. On me the initial test drive lasted about 4 hours.

A good linden

Mimosa with green scents that over time gives way to a beautiful linden. No dense and honeyed agreement to accompany this flower, it remains on shades of green with light sweet touches without them taking over. The sweetness that i feel i attribute to that of the flower, everything i feel seems to be a natural consequence of the characteristics of the flower. As i have already said, i appreciate that it has not been combined, as with other lindene creations, with sweet notes like honey. Here it is as if the linden is given a way to open up and express its characteristics without being suppressed.

After a while, a slightly powdery part comes out to close the fragrance. Overall, i find it an extremely interesting, well-made and not trivial colony. Excellent work by the brand

A poetic cologne

A very mimosa forward interpretation of the linden blossom.
Perfect for spring, it would be a lovely everyday fragrance for a man or a woman.
Longevity is higher than what you'd expect from a cologne, and I think this is very good value for money. Greener and more bitter than Belle de Grasse (another mimosa fragrance). Less hay and honey than in Vouloir être ailleurs. C.G. .
Bottle and box are lovely, the spray, not so much.
