Clean and feminine
There must be something about the way Estee Lauder manufactures her fragrances, because there is always a distinctive note that I can detect in every one of her perfumes.

I think Pleasures is a lovely floral, everyday scent. It's just so light and pretty that it's hard not to be drawn to this fragrance. I think anyone past their teen years would smell lovely wearing this. It is in no way an "old lady scent" like some people assume it might be.

Like all Estee Lauder fragrances, Pleasures has great lasting power, so great that you can still smell the scent 24 hours after applying it. However, I think the price is a little outrageous, which is the only thing about Pleasures that bothers me. It's a nice fragrance, but not one I'm prepared to pay $120 AUD for.

Starts off like a spring rain...
A bright, cheerful springtime scent - with clean, almost soapy green notes, paired with light, airy, somewhat aquatic florals. Rose is particularly prominent here, even more so as it settles. Starts off like a spring rain, leaving behind beautiful blooming blossoms in its wake.

Spotlessly clean
I am normally not a fan of fragrances described as "clean", but Pleasures manages to avoid all of the pitfalls that those fragrances usually fall into. It's not soapy, it's not lemony, it's not one of those "blue" scents that end up in gel deodorant territory. It's just... fresh.

And green. Very green. There's a perfume ingredient called cis-3-hexenol, which smells exactly like cut grass. I don't know for certain if it's in the composition, or if it's a similar-smelling material, but Pleasures smells like it's opening with a massive dose of cis-3-hexenol. (To be clear, this is a good thing to me). After about ten to fifteen minutes it turns oddly minty, which is still nice, if unexpected.

An hour later it's imperceptible to anyone but me (and only if I'm trying particularly hard), smelling like I just washed myself with some very expensive soap. I do quite like the smell of this, especially in the opening, I just wish it stuck around for longer. But for the price it's not bad, and even I can admit there are times that call for something like this. You could do a lot worse.

Like a stroll through a dewy meadow
This is very lovely and always gets me in a good mood. It is playful, breezy and dewy. A clean, flowery scent that is neither boring (like so many other flower scents out there), nor screechy, but very flattering and super feminine. Perfect for a picnic or a stroll through a meadow, barefoot and in a summer dress that caresses your ankles gently with every step you take.

Clean, pure, light : a symbol of Nineties minimalism. But it on my skin the result is "not pleasant"

Bright green floral opening. But synth-woody patchouli drydown is a starck contrast. Lovely but generic. Easy reach.

Too old-fashioned for me, it smells like an old powder compact forgotten at the bottom of a bag. No 'pleasures' at all for me here.
