Thalassophobia - the beast lurks in the deep sea trench
I have now taken a long time to really take in the fragrance and fully understand it.
But I'll start with the packaging and bottle. The packaging is typical Toskovat, the only difference here is the cardboard slipcase with a few illustrations and a description of the rare components. The bottle is again Toskovat-standard, but this one has a golden lid and the number on the back of the label. I saw 02/100.
I really would have liked more creativity here, because first impressions count, right?
Big price and little presentation.
After that, I told myself that it's the fragrance that counts and not the packaging, which ends up gathering dust in the cupboard.
I was immediately captivated by the first spray. An intense, almost overwhelming blend of choya nakh, saffron and sea water immediately unfolded. I would never have expected that, but I stood there and understood what David was trying to tell me. Depth, fear and no way out.
Time passed and what remained was the Assam oud and the white ambergris, but really. I couldn't believe it, because it was so strongly dosed that it almost completely drowned out the rest of the notes. There I was, trapped in a deep-sea monster with no way out.
But David said: "Today I remembered the only way out is through." But how?
I am left with a feeling of respect and awe, respect for the craftsmanship and the story that "The Belly of the Beast" tells.
Anyone who has the opportunity to purchase or test it should go for it. It really is an adventure.
